Does Les have the guts to fire Rudy, no matter how poorly the Rockets perform? We all know that Rudy is an institution in Houston and I was wondering if Rudy basically has tenure with the Rockets the way a professor has tenure with a university. Les has always seemed to support Rudy and even if the Rockets don't make the playoffs I doubt Rudy will get fired because our team record will be better than last year and Rudy can always use the excuse that this is a new team. If we don't make the playoffs this year and make it next year and lose in the first round, Rudy won't get fired because he at least got this team into the playoffs. So on and so on.... Somehow I don't think Les has the guts to fire Rudy because of the fear of backlash in Houston. So will Rudy be here for the next 10 years? Unless he gets burned out which doesn't seem like the case so far, it seems as if Rudy will be here for a long, long, long time. I would hate to have these Fire Rudy debates going on for the next 10 years.
I think Les has so much confidence in Rudy's coaching abilities that you will see players heading out long before you see Rudy going anywhere.
Les eats, sleeps and breathes winning when it comes to the Rockets. The fact that the new arena opens next year and he has a LOT of money riding on it is added pressure. I don't care how much of an institution Rudy is, if we continue to lose, no one is safe.
The Rockets haven't been doing all that much losing lately, and I don't see them doing much in the furture. Go Rockets!!
maybe, maybe no But I'll tell you one thing, the Rockets are a hell of a lot better than they were last year.
I think Rudy is a great coach. We can't realy bash him when we got the 4 losing streak. Just think about the 4 winning streak. Rockets is a young team and YAO is a rookie. We didn't expect him to be the core this year, but he is now. I think it's maybe too much burden on him mentally and physically if we run the every offense on him(he even not played against the team once), let he play the clutch shot, especilly with SF the all-star starter as teammate. Rudy's project was destroyed by YAO's development. I didn't expect the Rockets to make the play-off before the season, but now we are play-off calibred. We have to go step by step to build our team with Rudy teatatively designed the future of the team and YAO match after match. Rudy is a decent coach, he has his own timetable, he is just a little bit cautious. Rockets is a young team. She needs encouragement. We are in a great progress. Rockets didn't make the play-off even when Dream was here. So don't be disaspointed if we almost make the play-off. It's the samsara.
