If Rockets plan to play fast break up and down basketball Smith will excel. Smith is no slouch on offense he can score the ball and with Harden getting all the attention..I see layup, lobs galore!!

Smith is overrated on offense. Period. Asiks strength on offense is he can create alot of points for others with his passing. Big centers who can rebound, block shots and pass like him are rare these days.

And who would get those passes...Smith. Smith is one of the best player that's an unrestricted free agent. If we can't get a one of the top guys Love, Cousins, Aldridge etc...Smith is the next best thing.

We only have a chance at Kevin Love if he demands a trade. That could happen but probably not this season.

Even if he does this season they won't trade him. They'll use the next two seasons (including the 2012-13 current one) to try and convince him and will likely wait to trade him when they realize he'll walk for nothing. Just like every other superstar...and even like Harden who was about to become a RFA.

I see alot of potential with Josh Smith. At times I see Josh Smith as a Lebron Replica, in spurts anyway. I think if he worked on his overall game alot he could improve greatly. I have sen spurts of Josh Smith taking it down the floor with some nice dribble moves and finishing with a tomahawk slam. Now this is not consistent and he is no where as mobile and athletic as Lebron or in the same skill level but I think Josh smith could end up being a very verstile guy. If he can start draining that Mid Range and keep working on his post game that would be spectacular. Later on perhaps *or now* he can work on his ball handling. Obviously we don't want JSmith doing ball handling but I see so much potential and his little spurts show he's got some jukes. He is a big guy and physical so we can already expect him to at least get his fair share of rebounds def and off rebs at that. I think he is the best bet for the team and maybe the most realistic. I do love Paul millsap though and would be equally happily.

Harden and Gay in the same team? We can break the record for most homosexual fans.

Nice post. Also, could use a second front-court shot-blocker because Asik is not elite in that area.

I'll repeat my post from several other threads: Why would you want to invest all the cap money in a player who can't create his own shot and can't draw a double team? Now, I haven't seen enough of Josh Smith to say he can't do either of those things, but I've asked whether he can over and over. Considering I get no answer every time, I can only assume he can't. If that's the case, forget him.

If we need another star, the only one that really makes sense to me who realistically could be available is Al Jefferson. I can understand ppl who think he might be a little older than ideal. Still, he's not that old. I just don't think we have anybody Utah would want. I'd also want to hold onto D-Mo.

It would be wise to sit on this team for a couple years while the heavyweights we can't compete with (the Lakers and the Heat) battle it out instead of blowing our load on a player that won't help us compete for a title, but will hamper future flexibility. We'll see if Lin's any good (probably not) or if T. Jones or DMo can develop into an all-star caliber player. And the cap space situation won't look much different in 2014 when Love and Aldridge will be in their last year. Hell, maybe CP3 will shake loose next summer.

Trading for Al Jefferson, on the other hand, is simply the worst option and anyone suggesting him should turn off their computer.

WOW, THIS GUY PROBABLY STAYS AT HOME ALL DAY IN FRONT OF HIS COMPUTER COLLECTING GIF'S. AND PROBABLY BE JACKING OFF TO IT AS WELL.

DUDE, LET ME GIVE YOU AN IDEA. HOW ABOUT YOU JUST STFU AND ADMIRE MY AWESOME MUCH-SUPERIOR IDEA INSTEAD OF SHOWING OFF YOUR IGNORANCE ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD. I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE TO EVER BEGIN TO COMPREHEND SUCH INNOVATIVE IDEAS. BUT TRY NOT TO SHOW OFF YOUR BOTTOMLESS IDIOCY ON A WORLDWIDE FORUM.

I KNOW YOUR FAVOURITE PASTTIME IS ORGASMING TO GIF'S. YOUR PROBABLY JUST A BIG FAT NERD SITTING IN FRONT OF HIS COMPUTER SCREEN ALL DAY WITH A FARM OF PIMPLES ON YOUR FACE. NEXT TIME YOU EVER BEGIN TO CRITICISE MY IDEA, IMMA GONNA COME TO YOUR HOUSE WHILE YOUR SLEEPING WITH A SHARPIE MARKER AND CONNECT THE DOTS ON YOUR FACE.

It would not surprise me if the Rockets tinker with the King. I'm quite sure if the Heat wins a few more, the trio will get sick of each other. Most likely Wade will get jealous of the King of getting more glory. The Rockets have flirted with all the big name free-agent players recently, so I don't see why they wouldn't unless the King demands ownership of team. What the Rockets really need is a younger Nowitzki. Someone with size, who can score like an all-star and catch a few rebounds. The Rockets may not have a consistent scorer besides Harden. Josh Smith would fit the bill with the upcoming free-agency, a capable scorer and a defender. I think we may end up trading Chandler Parsons for a big name star this season, or the next if they want an untouchable big time player.

Zach Randolph would be ideal in my eyes. Rocket's starting unit would be set.

    Asik
    Randolph
    Parsons
    Harden
    Lin

Besides cp3 and howard you're looking at the likes of j smooth and al jefferson leading free agency. Not really a whole lot going on there.

I personally would love j smooth if we paid him what he's worth and NOT some ridiculous sum of money.

Oh, and if he would stop trying to shoot 3's.

If Josh Smith agrees beforehand that he will never shoot a 3pter in a Rockets Jersey, I would welcome him. Otherwise, forget it.

The last thing we need is a C like Asik who's limited offensively paired with a PF like Josh Smith hitting 45% of his poorly selected shots > and to pay this duo big bucks. It's not like we're sitting on a bunch of offensive juggernauts in Parson, Harden and Lin. It may make a killer defensive pairing, but we will not be able to come up with the points needed to win between Lin, Harden and Smith. Besides, Asik is the superior defensive player even if Smith is the superior shotblocker.

For max dollars, our PF must AT LEAST be hitting damn near 50% of his shots and grabbing 10 rebounds per 40 minutes. Smith has shown he can do that and more, but that has only happened in the one season where he put aside his silly desire to take 3-pters.
