The camby & dalembert combo was actually excellent defensively and camby was playing at a very high level but was hindered by McHale's minute allocation/ Camby's age (but come on he should have been playing center at the end of those games). Asik has been playing great but the reduction of Scola is really the key here. Scola is just awful defensively and his reduction in rebounding made him even worse to the point where he was a net negative on the court.

The removal of Scola is actually having the biggest effect.

This Rockets Defense IS Better Than Last Year'S Team

While this is still a bad statement grammatically, I'm tired of seeing these awful and poorly worded thread titles.

No racist, but I know we have gotten many more Asian members who may not be fluent English speakers...but can we try Google Translate?

I don't know if you watch the knicks vs the Twolvs games last season . this was b4 rubio injury and b4 Lin injury, but Lin blow pass rubio like its nothing. rubio can not guard lin one on one none of the twolves pg can. take a look video dont lie.. well not this one.

I think Chris Paul had the same injury as Jeremy lin , meniscus tear in the knee. so its gonna take some time for lin to get his legs back.

well obviously, you have to read any post with some basic basketball common sense. There's no basketball player who never gets beat, never was, never will be. Defense is hard.

Lin has better size so he should help from pg
    Martin looks improved on D
Parsons has a year of experience so should be better
Ppat is upgrade on D over scola
Asik is a beast on D, not sure yet better than both camby and dalembert combined but better than either one IMO. Having 2 big defensive centers really is great if one not getting it done the other would. The prob was though that neither were used late in games. I have no doubt the rockets have got a team that should get better on d in fact I think they could be a top 10 defense perhaps next season. With McHale u got to play d and he emphasizes it too much and they are too talented in that area to not get better

Asik and Pat and Parson are all above average - top notch defenders. Douglas and Delfino are known for their defensive prowess too. Lin is showing he is no slouch either. Martin has improved. Jones has the fundamentals with room to improve. D-Mo, Lamb, White and Machado are the only weak links.

    Theoretically we should be better.

    90% Asik
    7% PPT+PPS
    3% Martin+Lin improved

btw, I think Jeremy is a slight better defender than Goran/Kyle.

I am not sure Google Translate works. It may turns out to be worse than what you expected. It is not easy to translate to English and expect the right translation or get what the posters actually mean.

For people who actually think that Calembert is anywhere near the level of Asik defensively, you should look at the fact that the Bulls in crunch time generally used Asik over Noah to clamp down on defense. Camby was old and Dalembert was a space cadet. Neither on a per-minute basis had anywhere near the impact Asik had in Chicago. It's not even close. Asik when on the court is arguably top-5 defender in the entire NBA.

My only concern with our defense is how many minutes Asik can actually play given his style and lack of minutes until now. But in those minutes he's on the court, there's no comparison to last year.

Imagine if we had Chuck Hayes as our backup C. That would be no drop off on D at all while still being able to run.
