"I started to admire him as early as 2001. When I heard he would play in China I told myself that no matter which city he played in, I would move there," said Xu Guobin, 30, a salesman who works in Qingdao, while holding a poster of McGrady newspaper reports.
Gotta feel good for him being loved and all...but in the end he's still gotta wake up everyday knowing that the NBA doesn't want him anymore. And probably wakes up with knee pain too.
Only 2000 fans? Given how many people live in China, it's the equivalent of about 40 fans here in the US.
What time of day was it? Xuejin must have gotten those people wasted to be in such a frenzy over an over the hill player.
It's amazing. Chinese fans must love him a lot. It's like I was overjoyed when I heard T-Mac was traded to Houston in 2004. That's what they felt when T-mac arrived there.
you must be a pretty new rockets fan. let me give you a history lesson. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86OLi9i7j1c "but with houston threatening to win the west without yao, mcgrady looks as worthy of mvp consideration as anybody!" mike wilbon spittin' that truth!
it's okay. i just gave him a quick history lesson. we need to be welcoming of all the young fans on here. all of us OG's won't be around forever ya know?
