If the guards keep playing these stupid games, Rox wont even had the chance to appear in the playoffs, though they have Ming now.
It's so weird that Rox' picked Ming but isolated him on the court every night . If they dont want to give him the ball, why not free him and just let Cato do the job?
It's time for either Rudy.T or Ming leave the team, if not the insane guards.
I feel sorry for the fans....

Um, the Rox had a real good chance two years ago with these guards and less talent, winning 45 games and missing playoffs by 1 game. But yeah, tonights performance is really dissapointing.

I think mobley and franchise is too frustrated to go to the playoff that they makes terrible mistakes on the court.....

Two year ago when they almost make the playoff they go into a winning stretch by involve Hakeem more in the offense. Our guards didn't do it by themselves. I remember that when they start involving Hakeem is when they start winning more consistently. Hakem had spoken out against Rudy not involving him in the offense. When they start to listen to him is when they start winning and end up with a respectable record. May be Yao should do the same by speaking out. But Yao is too nice and unselfish to speak up on his own behalf.

I totally agree with you. That's the reason why Hakeem left in the first place. (of course money issue, too) But I remember the press sonference in Toronto where he said that he feels like he can still contribut to the game. Maybe he felt the guards and Rudy were neglecting his role. At the time, I just thought Hakeem was getting old and he didn't want the paycut, but now after reading your post, it makes sense that the Rockets were subconsciously or maybe very consciously going the opposite direction. Boy, it sure seems like that now.

Hakeem averaged less than 12 pts and under 50% FG that year, trust me it was mostly Francis that lead us to those victories. I remember watching the games and got real excited at the end becuz of what kind of player Steve was turning out to be and had high hopes at the beginning of last season, before all the injuries happened. But Steve really hasn't improve that much lately, he's still one of the best players in the league, just not developing as fast as I would like him to.

    wizkid83,

You obviously weren't around that year. Make no mistake, Hakeem won those games.

The problem is, Rudy will never demand something on a play. Yao Ming can't demand the ball on a play, while Hakeem did.

Once the ball goes to Ming more (not necessarily to score or take shots), then we'll start winning.

I'd love to have Hakeem coaching the Rockets. We'd see the ball in the post regularly, while Steve and Cat take over the one-on-one coverage.

    Yep,

The resurgence 2 years ago was due to Dream's play plain and simple.

    Ricky,

    You are 100% correct.

    come on guys,

the rockets are only 2 games back from being the 5th seed in the west, currently minnesota.

with a little winning streak, we can get back into the 5-7th positions.

This standing was taken from sportsline.

    Teams Games Back
    1. Dallas -
    2. Sacramento 3
    3. San Antonio 6
    4. Portland 6½
    5. Minnesota 8½
    6. Utah 9
    7. Phoenix 9
    8. Houston 10½

I was around that year. Olajuwon contributed, but he was rarely the "difference maker." Cato this season is a better center, and Rice is an equally valid "veteran leader."
