Smith is owed the least amount of money of these guys, so he's the least useful in a trade. On the other hand, once the regular season starts, he's not going to see the light of day. He's not going to be playing for this team. Too many guys stacked ahead of him for minutes. Thirdly, he has looked very pedestrian in preseason. He's just not developing. I think he's gone.
I don't like the veteran journeymen taking the rookies' minutes, but I much prefer Livingston and Forbes over Douglas and Delfino. Probably because the former two know how to fit into an offense without trying to do too much, and generally play more intelligently than the latter two. Douglas has looked decent thus far for us, but if you watched him in NY, you'll quickly find out that he's an inefficient combo-type. Delfino can hit some outside shots, but he doesn't contribute elsewhere, and is too streaky to deserve lots of PT.
Forbes is the most likely to be cut. He's nothing special and has shown little upside. I actually prefer Livingston over Douglas. Douglas is a decent backup player. But guys like him are a dime a dozen. Morey can snatch one of those in his sleep. Livingston is a unique talent, if only he can stay healthy.
Forbes is a floor spreader. He might be a better shooter then Delfino. Brockman, Smith, and either Jujuan or Machado are either cut or traded.
Disagree. Forbes is a journeyman who has never shot better than .350 3pt. Delfino isn't the second coming of Ray Allen, but he at least has some track records of a decent long ball shooter. And he has a bigger contract for trade purposes.
haha.... Hey I did say I was "Going out on a limb" didn't I? More power to TD. He seems like he really has reeled back his ball hogging ways, and humbled his game a lot over the past year. Good for him. He has the potential to be a contributing backup PG for many years.
Ive been wondering the same thing. Maybe he isnt 100% healthy and they dont want to risk him breaking down. The only knock on this guy is that horrendous injury and the toll it took on his body. Unfortunately he will never be the same player. But he can still be useful as a backup on the back court or wings.
I think we will keep him despite lack of playing time, he's one of the few veterans and Machado is probably not getting to see playing time ahead of Douglas.
Livingston is going to stay which means the last 2 spots are coming down to Brockman, Johnson, Smith, Machado & Forbes. They are saying Patterson is probably going to play back up center but I still hope we keep Smith. I like Forbes more than Machado who has too much attitude and not giving enough on defense. Rotation: Lin / Douglas / Livingston Martin / Delfino / Douglas Parsons / Delfino / Morris / Forbes Patterson / Jones / D-Mo Asik / Smith / Patterson Lamb & White are going to spend time in the d-league I think.
I have the feeling that McHale will use Douglas and Delfino at multi-positions depending on the game night. Unless McHale see other things in the practice, this looks like my pick as well. I just wish we get Lamb and White back into the game.
We're gonna keep Forbes and Machado. Morey is looking for a trade to salvage some sort of value for the other 3 guys.
Send Livingston to the Wizards for a 2nd round pick. They are thin at PG after the John Wall injury. If he plays well enough, he can serve as a backup even when Wall returns and provide a veteran presence to challenge the playoffs. If he does so so, they can cut or buy him out and save some money as his contract is partially guaranteed. We get another pick as an asset. Prefect for both teams.
