Where do you think Mobley is ranking among the NBA's Sg's this year.
Also, how much do you think he can improve and is Yao presence helping him.

I'd at least say he is in the same category as an Eddie Jones. Mobley needs to work on his all around game but I've gone from hating him to respecting his game alot more.

If age was not a factor, here are the SGs that I feel are probably better than Mobes.

    Iverson
    McGrady
    Carter (if healthy)
    Houston
    Jones
    Ray Allen
    Kobe Bryant
    Michael Finley
    Paul Peirce

A couple of notes: In my heart, I feel Doug Christie is also ahead of Mobes. However, he does not score much and really can't take over a game (maybe with his D though). Wells is close to Mobes too. If he was not such a moron, and a poor shooter, he might be ahead of him. David Welsey and Jason Terry are close too.

In the end, I think Mobes should rank anywhere from 10-12 among shooting guards.

I don't think Jones is better and I'm still not sold on Finley being better (aside from being 3rd option on a better team). Cat gets shortchanged a whole lot especially on this board. The guy can score almost at will, his D is pretty good and though his passing leaves a bit to be desired he's not leaps and bounds behind most of those other guys. At least not the ones who aren't the centerpiece of thier respective offenses.

Also he has to be one of the hardest workers in the league, he improves every year. Some of his teammates could learn from him. I wish he was appreciated more.

If he goes to another team I guarantee that he'll still be successful and kill us when we play him. I'm glad Rudy doesn't feel the way most of us do.

BTW when he plays good we win about 90% of the time.

Mobley is a great player, he's just too small. If he was a few inches taller and a little bigger, he would be as good as Kobe or T-Mac. But he's still a great shooting guard. He was the Nike Baller of the Week!

I can't believe Francis thinks Mobley can be an all-star....that's pretty delusional thinking if u ask me.

If this, If that.......nothing more than excuses
What if Kobe was 6'11" and 260 lbs, but still maintains his current speed, jump shot, and athletic ability?

Mobley is nothing more than a very good 6th man, just like Moochie is nothing more than a NBDL ball player.

kobo has it right......#1 all-star wanna be :)

Hate to say it but I bet even Mobley's 6'6" or 6'7", he still would never be a true superstar SG. He still wouldn't have the smart, vision and passing ability and those things wouldn't be corrected by a height change.

You guys are insane. Mobley isnt a Kobe or Tmac but the guy is an amazing offensive player and is learnign how to play more of a team game. Granted he isnt a great defender but he is improving. He is not just a 6th man as someone suggested.
ANd Moochie being an NDBL player. Comeon

Yes, Mobley can score at will, but what puts the other SG's ahead of Mobley is they don't turn the ball over as much or take their other 4 teammates out of the play whenever they try to score.

Another player who's ahead of Mobley--Michael Jordan.

Even at this stage of his career, MJ is a better player than Cat.

Houston is overrated, but Sprewell is still pretty good (playing out of position though). Where's Stackhouse, Jalen Rose, or Szcerbiak? Heck, throw in Shawn Marion since he's the same size as Kobe. If age is truly not a factor, Jordan and Reggie Miller are still pretty good (well, Jordan anyway).

Brent Barry is another well rounded player like Christie who plays within the team concept. Penny Hardaway also to a less extent.

Bonzi Wells is better. He shoots as well (43% FG although he used to be higher than 50%), rebounds much better, steals somewhat better despite playing 7 less minutes. Assists are about the same maybe a little better/minute. Turnovers are noticeably worse. He can flat out dominate like a poor man's Paul Pierce, but with a much better inside post game but worse 3 pointers.

If David Wesley and Jason Terry are going to be compared to Cat, you might as well throw in Marbury, Bobby Jackson, Gilbert Arenas, Van Exel, Larry Hughes, Dejuan Wagner, Francis , and every other SG in a PG's body let alone the big PGs like Payton and Kidd that could definitely guard SGs.

You still have the next tier (3rd?) down of SGs. Players like Derek Anderson, Ron Artest, Ricky Davis, Rip Hamilton, Corey Maggette, Posey , Mike Miller, Desmond Mason, Morris Peterson, Michael Redd, Steve Smith, Kendall Gill, Jim Jackson, Kerry Kittles, Reuben Patterson, Jason Richardson. Almost all of these guys can score. Quite a few of them aren't good defenders though.

The Cat would fall somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd tier. The SG position is by far the deepest position in the league followed by the SF then PF positions. The difference between the 10th and 20th best in SGs is quite small. So is the difference between the 20th and 30th. Not so with 1st(McGrady/Kobe?) and 10th(Jones/Rose?). Cuttino's probably 18-21.

    Agree completely with Akuma.

Also, Cat is 28. He's not likely to ever be any different.

NBA.com currently rates Cat #12 among all guards (pg and sg) in the Western conference...they have a pretty good rating system that includes a little more than just a list of names....

I would be very interested to see list of 17 or 20 shooting guards you would rate ahead of him.
