He was great at that. But nothing else. He was the only one who passed the ball to Yao. But I like Posey better. But we're losing...but Glen did good...but Glen might be injured for life...

Rice seems to be the only one Rocket player who can challenge
Steve or Cat's one-on-one plays. He would choose to voice his opinions or actually demanded the ball from them.
He could be a good veteran leader for the Rockets.

He could be a good one even only as a backup for Posey but he needs to be less injuried.

So at $9 million per year all Rice is good for is passing the rock to Yao.

We couldn't get rid of his 9 million per year anyway.

I think that Rice has a sprained shoulder...doesn't sound that serious. However, with his age, you never know how long he will be out. I honestly don't think that Rice will ever be completely healthy again. He is just sticking around to get the rest of his big contract and then call it a career.

Rice is great to have off the bench. He can still yap off the bench, come in and do his stuff against second units, and pass the ball to Yao.

Then when he's on the final year of a 10M contract, we trade him for a valuable player. I was thinking, Derek Anderson would be a nice addition to this team.

    Here's a thought:

Assuming Penny is past his knee problems, which he has shwon for the whole season and ahlf of last now, would you trade Rice and Mobley next year for him? He makes lots and lots of money, but I think he'd be a great compliment for Steve. What else do we get? Not a C, not a PF, not a SF, not a PG...I think Mobley is the next weakest link. Phoenix would undoubtedly do it, because Rice comes off the books, and they get Mobley to have their best backcourt in the league.

Remember, Penny's also a PG, and the way he played before hsi thumb injury this season would suit the Rockets PERFECTLY.

What else would we do with the money? We're over the cap, and this deal wouldn't take us into luxury tax, and by the time Griff or Ming are due for a big contract, Penny's will be over. Then all that's left for us is finding a way to deal the (hopefully) 100% healthy MoT for hard-nosed, dirty work backups.

    Thoughts?
