I'm a rocket fan, but I was cheering for the bulls to win, because this team needs new direction. If this team makes the playoff, we as fans are going to be disappointed for another 3 or 4 years of watching the same type of basketball. That's a painful thought.

Please no John Lucas as the head coach. I'd take him as an assistant though.

I still like Van Gundy as a possible future coach for the Rockets if they decide to fire Rudy this offseason. I always liked him as a person and as a coach.

Maybe someone should start a poll of possible coaching hires for the Rockets.

I just finished looking at this crappy game on tape. This team Sucks and Rudy Sucks. I'm totally digusted by this team right now. They're a joke. I'm with you BubbaMac. This team doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs. When they fail to reach the post season yet again, then hopefully, and finally Rudy's sorry ass will be gone. He's the problem. This team is directionless. Pitiful just pitiful.

I honestly think the best solution would be to keep Rudy as head coach but bring in some new assistants that give the offense and players a lot more direction. But what will it take for that or any change to happen...another long off-season, a goose-egg in the playoffs or nothing? As a Rocket's fan to the core...I serously hope they finally "get it" and go to the playoffs and do some damage, so they don't need to make any changes. But this ain't a perfect world...

John Lucas doesn't deserve to be a Head Coach. He has never prooven himself as a Coach. I blame him for the way Steve Francis is playing. Lucas should be banned from Rockets Summer Training.

I am as big of a Rockets fan as anyone but I would rather sacrifice this year than to have to endure another 5-6 years of this same old crap.

The only way for the Rockets to make a change is to blow this year and maybe Les can will start to think about some coaching changes.

If we make the playoffs this year, Rudy stays and we will be having these same conversations for the next 5 years.

Look at our next 5 games, can anyone say 10 game losing streak?

Or maybe we shouldn't. Maybe we should see what happens the rest of this season with Rudy as coach, and then discuss those possibilities. This team has finally been re-built, and we decide after half a season that Rudy should be fired?

LittlyY, your posts in this thread, and from what I've seen in general, are ridiculous. That 54 year old BS is very stereotypical, and if that were the case than most of the coaches in the NBA should be fired. Nachbar was a waste, huh? Who would you rather have, considering we needed a SF with a shot...Ryan Humphrey? Qyntel Woods? Prince?

I agree that we should wait till the end of the season before any coaching changes should be made. If this team finishes at .500% at the end of the season and no playoffs a change should be considered.

Hasn't Rudy been running the same isolation offense ever since we got Barkley?

No wonder Pippen was pissed off. Going from the triangle offense to standing around and watching your team mate dribble for 20 seconds would piss me off too.

As I said before, even if the Rockets were able to get a Kevin Garnett or a Tim Duncan for FREE, I can still see the Rudy being a knucklehead with everyone just standing around dribbling for 20 seconds before attempting a shot.

Real fans NEVER wish for their team to lose. Period.

You guys do realize that there are still 40 games to play, right?

It is tough to win in this league. It is tough to win with really young players. It is a very long season. This isn't a sprint. It's a marathon.

I have been dismayed by many of the horrific games the Rockets have played this season, but I would never once HOPE FOR THEM TO LOSE. What kind of crap is that?

This is long season with a lot of peaks and valleys. This is just a team that seems to go from Mt. Everest to the Royal Gorge and sometimes on the same night. Their almost manic depressive they are so high and low - maybe they need Prozac. It's frustrating and even infuriating, but thinking that the season is over now shows a lack of respect for the game an its history.

Hell, just ask that second championship team about giving up. Ask Willis Reed or Reggie Miller. Call the Lakers and have them remind you that their best player missed the finals one season and a rookie led them to the title.

I get that this is a microcasm and that fans live and die by every tick of the clock during a game, but, sheesh, try to see the big picture for a minute.

Chronicle Headline: RUDY FIRED. This headline will occur 2-3 games before the end of the season. Anyone want to bet me on this?

There are many times when fans wish their team to lose.

How many of us were cheering last spring every time the Rockets lost so that we could get a couple of more ping pong balls. This site even had something like a Clutch-City tank-a-thon. So we lost and got Yao.

This year, the more we lose, hopefully the more likely Rudy will soon be nothing but a figment of our imaginations.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice the present in order to prepare for the future.

You cannot honestly be comparing the sheer brilliance of the Tank-A-Thon with wishing for a loss during a normal winning season?

The big picture is Yao and an inside-out game; and whomever else wants to come along for the ride as role players.

Oh really, it was a joke? Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Maybe Clutch can start another tank-a-thon to get a new coach.

True, we are only in the middle of the season but our schedule is only getting tougher and tell me, what is the one thing that will get the Rockets to start playing smarter?

There is none. What is the motivation for the Rockets to be playing smarter next year? There is none. Rudy has been running this crap iso offense ever since the days the Barkley. What makes you think he will stop? Even Phil Jackson was laughing at Rudy's iso offense way back then.

Its either find some way to get rid of the coach or this board will look pretty similar for the next few years.

Jeff - none of those teams you mentioned were dragging around the anvil that is Rudy T; and i would argue that fans rooting for the Rockets to lose to the Bulls today in order to hasten Rudy T's departure are precisely the ones who do see the big picture, beyond today's meaningless game and this doomed season.
