martin is not part of our future. jeremy lamb is the future. I wish the guy well, but having him on our team is the definition of treading water; which is something i thought the organization wasn't going to do. we are REBUILDING!
i would like him if he had more than one move. his only move is to jump into people to try and get foul calls and that doesn't happen late in the 4th quarter. we haven't had a late game clutch player since t-mac was traded.
1. I'm not most people, but I didn't want him out last season. I do want him traded now. 2. He is looking sharp and he's building his trade value, which I appreciate. 3. This is preseason, where it's a lot easier to look good. When we get to the regular season, this whole team is going to start looking bad, and that's going to make Martin look bad too.
I can't score with lamb for some reason...parsons was prob my best player last season but can't score with him either now...Martin is the bomb though, if he wasn't on rockets I would get blasted...rockets suck on 2k bad, still only team I play with
Martin in contract year. You see it time and time again where athletes tend have career in that instance. I fully expect him to 60% TS this year which is elite, but also traded by trade deadline.
He's a great role player to have on a contender, but not so much for a team like us right now. We need to win or lose with the younger guys. Vets like Delfino who can easily have their spot taken by a younger guy sooner than later, have cheap, expiring contracts, and have zero trade value are the only vets we need on this roster. Vets like Martin who can block a starting position for a younger guy, and have some kind of trade value should be moved out sooner than later.
Kevin Martin is absolutely part of the future. It makes a HUGE difference whether we can trade him for a solid pick rather than a bag of chips, which is what he's worth currently. OTOH, Jeremy Lamb being a bench player for half a seaosn isn't going to kill his development. There's no way in hell that if Lamb doesn't succeed in 3 years, we go back and say, "Hey! He would've succeeded if only Adelman started him from game 1 of his rookie year!"
The knock on him is still the same: he is one dimensional and becomes less and less effective in the later half of the game. I've never hated the guy he's just more suited to be a second option on a good team than the first option on a rebuilding team. Having said that if he stays here I wouldn't be upset as long as we get him on a decent contract.
I'm loving that he's making himself look like an attractive asset to contenders. After his inevitable trade I will wish him the best and a healthy career, but really could care less how he performs.
What do you mean? He's our superstar in the making. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rPVfXoP7fXQ?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Isn't he just doing this to up his value in order to sign a big contract? He isn't part of our future; expect a move by the deadline for either young talent or draft picks.
All rebuilding teams need a vet with some type of stability in the league. Although, Martin would not have been my 1st choice, he is the vet we have. If he plays this season the way he has played this preseason, then he is the perfect vet .
don't disagree with anything you said. i want Martin to play well so we can trade him ...trading him meaning that he is not part of our future. Agreed that Lamb being on the bench for half a season won't negatively impact his development. not sure what point you are making. i agree with you.
I was never a big fan of Martin, but I thought the hate for him was way overblown, much like everything else around here. I also would like to see him moved for a younger player with upside.A backup center would be ideal.
Love or hate him, if you're a Rockets fan you should root for him to play well so that it increases his trade value. The sooner he's out, the sooner we get to see Jeremy Lamb get serious playing time.
So why are you complaining that the Rockets are trying to drive up Martin's value, while bringing Lamb along slowly? It seems to perfectly align with your wish for the team to rebuild.
