This may be a time the team needed to lose to continue winning. Tho not lose that bad...jeez...but the prob. Besides the offensive line is the linebackers. Gotta have production there. Have to. It can't be the watt show. Someone else needs to get there
Tough loss, but man...I think the Packers could've beaten the 85 Bears the way they played last night. Aaron Rogers played like....well.....Aaron Rogers. And the Packers were on a mission. Them getting beat by the Colts last week pretty much sealed our fate. I really don't think anyone would have beaten them last night. Of course, a little pass rush would have been nice (I'm talking to you, Connor Barwin). And I'm not even going to mention special teams. Next week is the biggest game of the year. Winner has the inside track to home field.
Nothing gets the sour taste out after a loss like that. I spent all of last week down over Cushing, and looks like it'll be another long week. Only positive to come away with is that Flacco won't be able to trash us like this Sunday. But dear god. No Raji and they still owned us at the line all night. That was pathetic. No Jennings and they still toyed with our secondary. Dom Capers clowning Kubiak in Xs and Os. Tip of the hat, Packers brought their A++ game. Oh well. Baltimore is FAR more important. Ray Rice is going to be a very serious challenge. Cushing effect. There were a couple of posters cocky enough to say that we would insert Dobbins and "not miss a beat" this past week. Truth is, Cushing gave Wade Phillips a lot of freedom. He was a one man wrecking crew able to go sideline to sideline, meet runners at the line, blitz occasionally, and cover anyone coming through the middle. Dobbins and James don't have anything near that range or instinct. You can't leave one of them alone like you can with Cushing. Sending 5 forward against this team would have left the secondary out to dry even worse. Rodgers had the ball out in 2 seconds 70% of the time - send 5, send 6, it wouldn't matter. Wade did try to compensate by going to a lot of 4 man fronts with the ILBs back and 5 DBs as his nickel package. It wasn't a bad idea. Unfortunately, the Packers did too good a job roasting us with quick passes and hot routes. No time at all for the rush to have affect.
He made some 3rd down plays last night that will haunt me for seven full days. I think my least favorite part of any Texan season ever was Collinsworth wondering if the Texans were for real last night. The NBC crew seemed genuinely disappointed in us. Still, beat Baltimore Sunday and it'll wash it all away.
Texans imploded...NFL teams implode. Look at that vaunted 49ers group that got their butts handed to em by the Giants. Patriots losing to the Seahawks. Bengals lost to the Browns. Steelers to Titans. Ravens escaped with one (again) as did Atlanta. Sky ain't falling here but Barwin needs to get his ***** together and Special Teams is going to be our downfall if we have one. Our kicker can't get touchbacks, our return game non existent, penalties galore, we *barely* made a 51 yarder (Atlanta has won two games with 55 yard field goals as time expired). It's concerning.
The sad part about it is, we wouldn't have been humiliated if we didn't commit those stupid penalties that gave GB those 2 TD's. It would have been a completely different game if we could have kept our head in the game. You cannot give Rodgers opportunities like they did and expect to win the game. There is nobody to blame but themselves. They need to watch film and get their act together for Sunday.
In all fairness to Wade, the Packers were familiar with his defensive schemes having seen them previously when he coached the Cowgirls. They knew exactly where to attack his defense and it showed. I don't expect this to be an issue next week with the Ravens and Cam Cameron. In fact, given what we've seen over the past two weeks, Foster, Tate & Co. appear primed look to have a field day running on the Ravens who are suddenly vulnerable to the run especially at the edges which is where Kubiak's ZBS is especially dangerous.
You know, the psychological impact is huge; the question is, more for the fans or the players? Perhaps both, but we will see. It seems that the Texans save their worst games for the home field in prime time. May not be true, I can't recall all their primetime games, but it feels like that. The Packers clearly brought their "A+" game and the Texans brought their "deer in the headlights" look. They got dominated in every phase of the game, and they weren't that good against the Jets last week. The Ravens game will tell the tale: contenders or pretenders? Two things really concern me. First, the "revamped" and "worse" offensive line. They really stunk last night. Second, the absence of Cushing. Boy was he missed. Those are two things that will be hard to fix for next week.
I'd like to see more pressure coming from Reed and Barwin....and I'm concerned with how easily they seemed to bottle up our running game...I knew a loss was coming eventually, I was hoping it wouldn't be so one-sided, though.... but it's one game, after all. Hoping they beat Baltimore to get back on track.
^Mercilus should get a shot to at least to give them some rest. Barwin gets in the vicinity. Close but no cigar doesn't cut it in football. The special teams coach needs to be fired ASAP. When will they ever learn?
have the Texans abandoned cut blocking? I don't recall seeing it in Jets and Packers game. I thought that was what gives Foster those lanes to shoot through.
The zone scheme is what you're thinking of. The cut block happens in the second level after Foster makes his cut. Foster was getting stuffed before he even made his first cut. The right side of the line is a turnstile now.
green bay forced the texans to play mostly nickel defense and they took full advantage of it. glover quin especially got picked n last night. and what's been going on with joseph? he seems to be getting beaten a lot now.
Yeah, the losing team in this 20-point SNF blowout last year wasn't serious at all, were they? http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=311218024
what the hell was up with our RB just falling and slipping all the time? Is our Stadium that bad? I remember someone posting earlier about that being an issue.
I could care less about those two idiots. For me, Al Michaels sealed his fate forever with that absurd Reggie Bush crack at the Texans during 2006 Saints-Cowboys. ("Every Texans fan has to be saying, what the hell did we do?" Speak for yourself, dip****.) It'll take another 20 years or more for the Texans to be considered one of the franchises that the good 'ol boy club respects. For now, to hell with them.
We lost to a 15-1 team last season, so no shame losing to them in any margins. A.Rodgers needed this game more than the Texans. His Packers was slipping like the Saints this year, he wants to prove that they are still that 15-1 team. Importantly, he wants to show the NFL, they can't take away a win from them and they are better than 2-3. It wouldn't surprise me if the Packers lay an egg against the Rams because this was their mini-SuperBowl.
