taking care of your own business is one thing but i have news for you, we're not going undefeated. if home field advantage throughout the playoffs depends on the outcome of the last Ravens or Pats game, i take it you won't be watching since it doesn't matter to you right. and cheering for a rival to win doesn't make you a fan, in this case it makes you smart.
Patriots, Ravens and Texans will have similar records when the battlefighting has ceased and only one will have full terrain advantage. If it means being a cowgirls fan for one week to give our glorious battlefighters some breathing space, I'm all for it. the enemy of our enemy is our ally.
This. Ravens and Pats are the only teams that worry me at all in the AFC. Maybe Pittsburgh if they could get everyone healthy, but that's looking pretty unlikely. And the tough guy nonsense is pretty silly. Were the Texans themselves being wusses when after the Bengals game they cheered when the Saints beat the Titans, allowing them to clinch the division? With that said, I usually don't bother actively rooting against rivals until it really counts. Partly due to fantasy and being a fan of the game in general and also if you put a lot of energy into hoping the Pats and Ravens lose every week, you're going to be disappointed most of the time.
this is how I do it. 1. I root for Texans/Players over any team. period. 2. I root for the team playing against teams in our division. If the both are in the AFC South then I root for the worse of the two. If they are about the same, who cares. 3. I root for the team playing against an AFC Conference team. If they both are in the AFC, then root for whoever plays against AFC South opponents. (other than Texans of course. See #1) If they both are in AFC but not in AFC South, I go with worse of two teams. If about the same, see See #2. 4. If it doesn't fall in the above, I root for some of my favorite players... personal choice. Sometimes I'll make exceptions. 5. I root against players that injure our players purposefully. opponents causing a Texans body pieces being lost or losing a season is on my instant ****list. See Fat Albert, Mays, Slauson. 6. If I don't like anyone, I'll root for whoever on my roomates fantasy team. lol
I don't know what pipe most of you are smoking on. If it will help the Texans get home field through the playoffs hell yeah I will cheer for the cowboys for a few hours. Imagine it as they are our b!tches. Doing b!tch work.
Good point about playing Indy twice at the end of the year. Hopefully we won't have anything to play for by then.
Until we actually win the division outright, I think rooting against your divisional opponents is a safe bet. Too early to be thinking about playoff seeding. Texans need to win first, then root for their division to lose, then root for those teams in the playoff hunt to lose. If one or two are taken care of, three won't matter that much.
If that's an ACL for LeDarius Webb, that's an even bigger loss to the Ravens than Cushing is to the Texans. For those not watching, he went down in a heap after awkwardly colliding/planting on a route with Dez Bryant. Immediately clutched knee, couldn't put any weight on it. Announcers speculated at first that it might be a bone bruise, but Ravens just said it's a "sprained knee"... which means ligament damage. MRI pending, I'm sure.
Ravens have CB depth drafting Smith last year. That run defense looks mighty like swiss cheese though. Not to downplay that run from Jones, which looked great.
Home field is in OUR HANDS. I'll be rooting for my team to win while y'all rationalize Cowboy victories. We're built to win games, there's no reason to pray at night that Romo throws for 5tds. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington Very bad news for Ravens' defense: The team fears torn triceps for LB Ray Lewis and torn ACL for CB Lardarius Webb, according to sources. If that's true, wow.
Lewis' injury may be a blessing in disguise for them... he's been really slow to the ball all year, part of the reason why they can't stop anybody's running game. But, he is their emotional leader and certainly can be missed... Texans can't focus on other team's injuries (along with their own)... just gotta beat who's out there in front of you.
Awww man...feel bad for Lewis. He cant go out like that. Everyone needs to understand that injuries happen to every team...so that a Cushing injury isnt a "curse". Texans have been very fortunate up to this point.
