I know that Fox did it because of all the crap they have gotten over the last several years about how late the LCS and World Series games have gone, but let me just be clear that I don't like that they are playing a game in the afternoon. I'm going to miss the first four or five of that one just because I will be at work.

Pence vs. Beltran. Are there any other former Astros in this postseason? And I wonder what Pujols is thinking right now?

It's a good question. I wondered the same thing this season after seeing him struggle so much.

At first I thought the league had caught up with his herky jerky motion and repertoire like we saw with a guy like Hideo Nomo in the mid-90s.

But after watching him tonight, I'm convinced it's more than that. His velocity was significantly down. He was sitting around 90 on his fastball.

Good Lord, but that was a mighty performance. And a bunt single to rub salt in their wounds!

Stilll some time for St. Louis to come back(down 5-0, bottom of the 4th) but right now, looks like we're headed for a game seven. And tomorrow, we'll be talking about the Giants and their comebacks in the postseason(0-2 vs. Cincinnati, 1-3 vs. St Louis) to reach the World Series or the Cardinals "miracle" run to return to the World Series.

Big mo has really shifted in this series. The Cardinals are dealing with injuries to Beltran and Holliday, the hitters that were hot earlier in the postseason have cooled off and now they have run into a buzzsaw in Vogelsong with Matt Cain lurking in game 7.

His velocity started to come down this year, and then he tried to overcompensate by throwing harder and overthrowing his pitches. He already had ridiculous movement on his pitches, so by overthrowing, he lost his control which netted him a career high in walks the past 2 years and tied his career high with wild pitches this year. Also since, batters/umps have started to realize he has control issues, he is getting less benefit of the doubt on borderline pitches and batters have been sitting on pitches in their zones.
