While leaving more important world affairs out of it, his snoozing spot is pricey, no doubt. But Jefferson is set to make $15 million this season. In comparison, it'd be like a person with a $50,000 salary spending $77.62 on a bed — a steal of a deal even at a garage sale. "I don't regret it," Jefferson said. "I love it." Jefferson knew he was buying a big bed — "Big guy," he reminded a reporter — but he didn't realize it was approaching the size of the key on a basketball court until it engulfed his bedroom. "I never really think it was going to be that big," Jefferson said with a small grin. "Talking about it and actually seeing it is two different things." http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865564268/Utah-Jazz-Big-Als-B-I-G-bed-creates-big-interest.html
This is just absurd, people are starving in other parts of the US / World and these numbnuts are wasting thousands of dollars on beds. Doesn't anybody think before they purchase this: "Ok, feeding a few hundred people or getting a bed that could fit a hundred kids that I don't really need?"
Dude....please chill. Your comment shows your level of ignorance. It's a bed. A bed has nothing to do with charitable work. How about the next time you go purchase furniture....or even some other luxury item for that matter, you stop and go save a country...
I'm sure like many NBA players he donates a lot money to charity. For once I think this is actually a good purchase, 6-7 hours a day are spent in bed why not make sure you're getting good nights rest? Better than Vince Young running up a five figure tab at TGI Fridays.
Is it any more absurd then you having International League Pass? Couldn't your money be better spent helping starving children?
Cancelled it and got a refund actually Yes, I'm very ignorant, because everybody needs a bed that can fit 10 people
If I were a 7-foot NBA player, a giant comfortable bed would be the first thing i'd purchase. Totally worth it.
No, everyone is entitled to spend their money as they see fit. If he wants a big ($24,000) bed - so what. Are you aware that while with the Wolves, Jefferson hosted a number of charity youth camps? Are you aware that he has performed community service in his home town which involves distributing over $80,000 of food to a number of local families?
I'm not attacking the man in general, I was using this as an example of how all these guys spend big bucks on stuff they can get cheaper or do not need. Doing charity is nice and all but can you imagine if all these millionaires pool their money together and use it wisely? Don't make me out to be a bad guy just cause I believe you can do better things with your money than wasting it, yes this is literally wasting money, on a bad that is absurdly oversized. Of course he should have a comfortable bed and a big one because he's a big dude but that big is just because you can.
Again, at what point are they expected to NOT buy superfluous things for themselves? It seems that you are saying that no one in the entire world should buy anything they don't need. What is 'waste' to you, isn't 'waste' to someone else. Some folks think money is wasted on computers and Internet access (my parents got along just fine without either). In that vein, you are a waster of money and should use the money you used on your computer and Internet access on the poor - correct? Why is it necessary for anyone to have a Jaguar or some really expensive car? After all, for the most part a Chevy or Ford would accomplish the same thing. How big is too big for a TV?
