I received it and soon saw it on another site as well. Obviously, I do not put much faith into the validity, but its funny nonetheless.

A quote from a UT recruit talking to an A&M coach as to why he picked UT over A&M!

"I talked to a kid this weekend. I won't mention the turncoat's name [boos, hisses] but he was a player we really wanted and really needed.

I asked him why in the world he'd go to Texas when they already had 6 or 7 great players at his position instead of coming here where he could start yesterday. What did those snake oil peddling 'sips tell him?

He told me, 'Coach, the Texas coach just met me in Houston and drove me down Woodway through the rich part of town. Every Jag, Mercedes, BMW, Hummer, Porsche and Ferrari we saw had one of those chrome Longhorns on the back.

The only A&M logos we saw were on the back of pickups parked in front of those houses, guys tending their lawns. Coach said I needed to decide where I wanted to live after I graduated. It wasn't a tough decision."

I guess that's funny, but I see tons of expensive cars with A&M stickers on them.

Down the street there's a guy that just bought one of those new Aston Martins and he has an A&M sticker on it.

Aggies also look out for each other. One of my college professors has a brother who went to A&M in the 80's and got a degree, but the market was dried up, so he had to get a job as a waiter. He was waiting this one table, and the customer (A&M grad) noticed his A&M ring and offered him a job at his company.

I guess UT grads all have to take Intro to Condescension and Football Recruiting Class Bragging 101 as pre-requisites for graduation...

This thread is degenerating fast. Why don't you guys brag about whose member is larger. That might be more mature than the who has the richest alumni argument.

Yes, and aggy corps attack students (Rice, UT, SMU, etc...) with sabres for stepping onto their field.

    We all have our anecdotes.

i go to UT, people from A&M say more bad things about us i believe then we do about A&M, most people at UT actually dont have a problem w/ A&M, i have friends go there, its just something that A&M wants to hold on to , we (UT) are rivals w/ Oklahoma now far more than we are w/ A&M, just a thought from a longhorn, either way both schools are good :)

Agreed. Myself included, several friends and again I am married to one. It was not my doing, I just thought it was comical.

They are not the focus of our fight song either

No doubt the over all, OU has been the bigger rival through the history of the 2 rivalries.

And I stated THIS WEEK that it would not be my preference, but I would not have a problem with my son going to A&M.

Will be the first to admit that, I have seen it on a number of occasions. Obviously some people can't take a joke. If there were something similar about UT so be it, I would not be whining.

I said it was a joke, b/c you guys act like that, there is a statement that everyone outside of aggyland says when you guys act like this.... Poooooooorrr aggy![IMG]

Here is Coach Fran's speech in its entirety. Enjoy.

Several minutes of introductory self-aggrandizement and appeals to cult mentality are omitted due to a desire to avoid carpel tunnel syndrome. We pick it up at the meat of the speech.]

"I'd like to address the issue of what to expect from our football team next year. How many of you think we'll win 9 or more games next year? [pause] How many think we'll win 10 or more? [pause] How many think 11 or more wins is a reasonable expectation? [whoops, cheers]

"Well, I think it's great if newspapers and magazines say stuff like that. But just between us, let's take a look at what we've got to work with here. How many of you guys take Websider's recruiting lists seriously? [more whoops and cheers] That's what I was afraid of. Listen guys, you've got to remember that these people are in the business of selling information, and people are more prone to spend money to hear good news than bad. I'm not saying these folks lied to you or that they're bad people; they're just in business to make money. But we've been looking at film for a month now, and what you've been told you've got is not what you have.

"Let's put it in perspective. We've always measured ourselves by what the teasips do, right? Well, Texas has been recruiting the lights out for the last five years. The only good class we've brought in during that time just graduated. Well, their elibility is gone, anyhow. The good news is that we've got us a good class this year. [whoops and cheers]

"The bad news is that Texas got a better one. Again. [howls of protest]

"The worse news is that these are 18-year-old kids we're bringing in. Most of 'em aren't going to be ready to play for two or three years. The kids who are on campus now? Friends, we've got about 5 guys who could make the 2-deep at Texas on either side of the ball. Now you may think the 'sips are paying Roy Williams to come back, but I think the real reason is that he saw our 2-deep in the secondary and decided he could have a 400-yard day next T plus one.

"At Alabama, we had about 8 linemen who may play in the NFL someday. Here, we have one who might be able to play in the league, and he's 18 years old.

"Now Coach Koenig, he thinks we can move the ball on Texas because he says Bull Reese over at Texas couldn't teach a dog to pee on a fire hydrant. [laughter] He thinks we can misdirection those bigger, faster players out of the way and score some points. Our problem is that there's no way in hell we can stop them from scoring any time they want to. They got so many hosses, even their OC can't figure out how to stop them.

"Frankly, friends, I need your help. [sound of checkbooks flopping on tables] No. Not that kind of help. I just came from a league where that was SOP, and I don't think we can get away with it. No. I need a different kind of help.

Every Jag, Merc, Beamer, Hummer, Porsche and Ferarri we saw had one of those chrome Longhorns on the back. The only A&M logos we saw were on the back of pickups parked in front of those houses, guys tending their lawns. Coach said I needed to decide where I wanted to live after I graduated. It wasn't a tough decision.'

"So I need your help. Some of you guys must work for car dealers, right? I need you to stand up for A&M. Put A&M stickers on every luxury car that comes through your dealership, after it's been sold, before it's delivered. You other guys, buy some A&M stickers. They're cheap. Drive through the parking lots at Tony's and Cafe Annie and Pappas Steakhouse and places like that. Rip those horns off peoples' cars and put A&M stickers on 'em. Can yo do that? [cheers, whoops, grunts]

"And one more thing. Those guys are coming to Kyle this year. Our sacred ground. I need you to figure out a way to poison their quarterback again this year. In fact, you need to poison their backup, too. It's the only chance we have."

    [cheers, whoops, and wild applause]

It's a good attempt, but it could have been better.

I guess no one got what I meant above...

If you went to UT, you'd be condescending as well. We call it pride.

I have not been in since yesterday, indeed it is quite a beautiful sight! I wonder if any of the aggy get it or if they are ignoring it.

Being that you are graduating this year, its one that you have seen most of your years there. How about a small sacrifice for The University, fans, and alum. Go to grad school and keep the string alive!

I am always one to be able to laugh at myself but in all seriousness that was simply not funny at all. That was pretty damn r****ded really. Where you go to college does not determine your lot in life, some people are very successful without going to college at all. Everyone has a different path in life and the person who owns that lawn maintainence company probably drives a benz too.
