ClutchFans Game Thread: Thunder @ Rockets 10/10/2012 (PRESEASON)

to be fair, thunder brought out their best 3 weapons against us and they are only 1 points ahead.

 

TD's also doing a good job on D. Problem is is that Westbrook is a powerhouse. He's unstoppable one-on-one. I remember in that 4th game in the finals against the Heat, Westbrook made a series of consecutive baskets, scoring 43 pts for the night. Not even LB could stop him in that particular game.

 

i wonder what nickname Bill and Bull would give lamb lol

How are they using jones? Sf or PF?

 

There must be some old timers in denial too then because they're saying that his defense wasn't bad.

 

It's Westbrook hitting all his jumpers with a hand in his face. Lin's been playing solid defense, but there's only so much you can do to a shooter without fouling.

At this point, it's just wait and see, but so far the only thing that concerned me about Lin's play was his 2 early fouls.

 

My my my, I am pleasantly suprised and the rookie mistakes are things that we'll have to deal with but we knew that so I'm not complaining. What I could gather is that Asik is very good but needs a lot of work conditioning wise. Matter of fact, all guys do. Lin did okay tried to force the issue and was kind of ball stopper but got some steals and assists so that's okay. Martin looks like his old self, taking shots within the offense and worked on defense pretty well. Parsons still the same. Patterson didn't look that good on offense but hey it's just one game.

The bench was terrible except for Jones at the beginning but slowly things started to get better. Douglas looked okay, had some nice drives that caused them to foul us. Terrible fast breaking though, he only tried once and failed. First unit was pretty good at that. Delfino looked bad, forced some shots and is out of rhythm. Lamb on defense was not very good but managed to get some rebounds, a steal and almost two more with long arms. On offense he's looking good thoug, especially the tip in. His FT shooting reminds me so much of T-mac, the way he shoots it and the way it hits the back of the iron and goes through. That is spot on T-mac. Jones was a monster on offense and looked ok on defense. D-Mo is out of sync, much like the 2nd summer league game except for a blocked shot on Harden but was called for the foul (imo it wasn't a foul).
Morris suprised me the most, quick and using his muscle. Hope he can hold down that three spot.

I was also happy with the commentary at first but the Chandler pornstar name is back, though the girls in the stands wanted to keep him haha (they looked mighty fine too At least they got Asik's name right and didn't talk about cookies or other food. Bill sounds much better than last year, it seems the return of Murph has energised the old fella! He kept referring to him and I wish we could see the half time show but LP doesn't of course.

That's pretty much what I thought.

 

and also, name someone in this league who can guard westbrook?
he is the only one who can stop himself---when he is cold

Wow, these announcers are worthless -- called TD a pure PG or something silly -- and worse, not even remotely entertaining.

 

BURN! Good one. :grin: He sorta set himself up for that one.

 

Only problem I saw with Lins D tonight was the same problems he had last year. He commits too early when he's giving help

 

lol if that was Machado instead of Lin that got lit up, would you be as forgiving?

 

Overall pretty entertaining first half. Some questions:

1) who will be our reliable post up player in the paint? I'm not sure PPat is that guy (though he can be) and I like what Jones is doing.

2) Backup center position? They might try D-Mo and I think with experience he can hold it down when need be, but probably won't be best utilized there.

Observations:
--The first team, though rusty, looks like its going to run and score quite a bit. I think Asik could "easily" be a 10-10 guy--that pass he caught for the dunk was sweet. More of that please.

--Martin is playing for a contract: great news.

--Parsons seems to have the makeup to be a 'veteran' presence despite only being his 2nd year. Excited about his season.

 

hand in face != good defense. You should know that after watching what "solid defense" is in the nba.
