I've actually been impressed with Cato's play off the bench

Cato has been an outstanding back up center this year. Best in the league.

This is some major BS. Cato is the last thing Rudy and Dawson are probably worried about so far. Name one backup center in the NBA that is better then Cato.

How can they say Cato hasnt done much?
Which backup in the NBA has done a better job? There are many starting centers in the NBA who are not doing as well as Cato.
    Absurd

Cato would start on most teams. He's a true center.

And he's the best looking guy in the league. He's the reason for at least half the girls that go to Rockets games, all 2 of them

You'll notice that Cato is 2nd in the entire league in rebounds per 48 minutes among those who have played at least 30 games (behind Ben Wallace). Oh yeah, and I hear he's a decent shotblocker too. What else do you want?

There's plenty more idiotic stuff in there too. He says Matt Harpring has "limited range." Funny, I thought he was shooting 44% 3pt on the season. What a r****d.

It still messes with my head to hear myself saying how good I think Cato is doing..
What a total turnaround in attitude and in our perception of him.

That being said, I have to go along with just about everyone else and say that Kelvin Cato is one hell of an asset to the Rockets and I sincerely wish that he remains a Rocket in the future.

What a moron that guy is, everyone knows that we need some stability at the PF position..

He actually energizes the team and makes them work harder. He is an excellent backup center...

but I believe Keon Clark is just a BIT better than him as a backup. Maybe Scot Pollard too.

Mitch Lawrence of ESPN? Who is this idiot?

Cato has been a quality back-up. He is one of the most improved players on the team compared to his play of last year. Can't believe this guy is suggesting that we trade him.

Oh wait, just saw the byline - "Mitch Lawrence, who covers the NBA for the New York Daily News, is a regular contributor to ESPN.com." Ok, again, who is this idiot? Despite all of the Yao hype, seems this guy has obviously paid no attention to the Rockets. Anyone else think that is strange for someone who "covers the NBA" and who is a "regular contributor to ESPN.com?"

Now, I agree that our power forward spot needs to improve, but I do not think we need a trade to do it. It should continue to improve on its own. Griffin is still only 20 and I believe he is playing better than last year. He goes inside more and is working on a turnaround jumper. It doesn't go in enough, but he is working on it. Also, Maurice is still recovering from his injury and he is looking better and better as the season goes on.

Hope ESPN didn't pay to much for Mitch's services.

He should have said that they need to trade Cat, Franchise and Eddie Griffin, fire Rudy T, start Mo Taylor and Boki, and give Yao the damn ball.

Then he would have made evereone here happy.

Rockets looking for a back-up center??

Mitch Lawrence disses Cato pretty badly in his article about trades. I personally think that Cato has been doing well when he plays.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/lawrence_mitch/1497147.html

"The Rockets can afford to be patient because they're well ahead of schedule with Yao Ming. The power forward spot (with Eddie Griffin and Maurice Taylor) will have to be addressed and upgraded at some point. They've been looking for a quality backup at center -- where Kelvin Cato doesn't do much -- for a long time."

Is this true? The rockets are looking for a back-up center? I didn't realize that.

Mitch Lawrence apparently haven't seen the Rockets play. Cato is playing better than any backup center in the league. The man hustles and plays solid D and cleans the glass very well. I'd bet if he was on the market, there would a long line of teams (Orlando, New York, etc...) willing to trade for him. This is something that I couldn't say with a straight face until this year.

don't believe everything every little editorial says. when you watch the rockets do you think they need a better back up than cato? i don't....in fact i don't really think there are any back ups better than cato out there.
