Fields is a good glue guy and was under-appreciated by Knicks fans, but damn he screwed up his shot. Just atrocious last season. Messed with his confidence too.
Parsons is going to win more hearts playing with Lin. Fields suffered tremendously under Woodson, lost his starter job at the end of last season in New York. Hopefully he will bounce back with Raptors. Parsons is going to start with Lin. Coming into camp the whole organization of Rockets is full of praises for him from top to bottom.
I actually think you might have it the wrong way...Both good defenders I see Fields as the better defender. Parsons is the better player on offense. I would go with Parsons overall though.
Parsons, and its not even close landry fields is absolute garbage! The guy only plays decent for the first three months of the season then stinks it up after that. The only reason people even know him is due to the knicks. I'm sure if we offered parsons right now for fields toronto would take parsons and run.

Following Jeremy Lin w the Knicks, I saw Landry Fields play a lot last season. Chandler Parsons, with my brief watching, seems to have a lot more natural "basketball" talent than Fields, and sees the floor a lot better too. Fields on the other hand made it to the NBA through hard work. Fields is a very focused player, but he needs to be. Fields' big hole was his half court dribbling skills, which is sub-par for NBA standards. (Steve Novak also had that glaring weakness too.) He's basically a finisher, and needs a point guard who can set him up. Fields is a decent defender and a good finisher, but is not a player who will make plays away from the basket. With what I saw briefly with Parsons, he's more natural handling and especially passing the ball. I just see a lot of more upside with Parsons. I get the impression that Parsons biggest advantage over Fields is pure playmaking ability. (I haven't seen enough of Parsons to put forth an opinion of his defensive play.) Lin almost never scored off a Fields pass, but I've already seen this with Parsons.
Just thought I'd bump this to remind us how foolish of a debate this was. http://www.basketball-reference.com...m=0&p1=parsoch01&y1=2013&p2=fieldla01&y2=2013
Parsons hands down, though I have to say I miss those Lin-to-a-backdoor-cutting-Fields-alley-oops quite a bit.
There's no comparison right now. Fields' contract looks really really bad. That being said, jumpshooting is perhaps the most variable area of a player's game, and Fields has broken his jump shot ever since he altered his form his sophomore year. Now, with his reported nerve injury in his elbow and and surgery for it, I do wonder if that was a major reason behind his broken shot. For his and the Raptors' sake, it better be related to the elbow. There's no way he or anyone can be this bad. Otherwise, he's going to be out of the league after his contract ends. Parsons' contract is an absolute steal right now. Aside from that, I think Fields plays off the ball better. He cuts better. But his forays into the paint are often out of control, just lunging at full speed; Parsons finishes much better at the rim. No alley-oops with the current Rox starters sure is a bummer tho.
