I have seen a lot of people here pushing PPat into the starting five. Even tho I like the guy I thing TJ's first season will show that he is more valuable than Pat. I am guessing here, but Jones might start more games than PPat. He seems in my opinion more versatile, quicker and longer than Pat.

It will be Patterson most likely.

Parsons was a rookie last year, right?

I think he will start Patterson at the beginning of the season, but will end up starting someone else by the end of the season.

If Patterson can fix his post moves to be a little more natural, he should get the nod at the beginning of the year. Patterson has showed quite a bit in the last 2 years. A lot of good (jumpshooting, defense) and bad (being timid, not wanting to finish strong). We have to see what kind of player year 3 brings.

That being said, I think Jones is a future all-star.....

From what I saw in the open practice / scrimmage was that Patterson should be the starter. His low post game has improved and coming off the foot surgery last season, he looks a lot better movement wise.

Is this a serious question?? Jones though good, is still raw and from what we've heard, Patterson has really worked on his game and he's back to rookie form only better. Let's wait with these type of discussions until we've actually seen them play a game. He's injured now so maybe wait 1 to 2 months so we can have some kind of an idea who will start more this season..

You are correct. Parsons beat out Bud for the starting spot. This shows that McHale will play a rookie over a veteran player if he performs better. I'm not a huge McHale fan, but I have to give McHale credit for recognizing early last season that Parsons was the guy to start even though he was a rookie. This tells me that it is possible that McHale may again choose to start a rookie over a veteran again this year. If Patterson gets off to a poor start, I can see Mchale making some changes in a hurry, but I do believe Patterson will get the first shot at the starting position.

I get your logic. But I don't think Patterson is going to lose that spot though. I think he will really surprise this season.

You won't made a center from D-Mo, he is a true PF. He can't hustle with Centers. Let Asik to be hammer in defense and give Donatas opportunity to show his skillz. Neither PPat nor Jones. But PPat will be changed by D-Mo. I really want this happen

If Patterson can get that through his head, I think he'll earn solid minutes in this league, starter or otherwise.

I anticipate that Pat will return to knocking down the 15-18 footer the way he did rookie year. But he played small after injury last year. He needs to attack the rim like never before, and when he's done attack some more.

I see people on here talking about refining his post moves and stuff - I don't see it happening. He ain't turning into Al Jefferson, and he doesn't need to. He needs to watch some old Otis Thorpe tape. Fill in behind the driving man, be ready for a pass or rebound, and attack the damn rim.

In my opinion, the job is Patterson's to lose. He should have a far better season this year, but should he fall short again, and should a player like Jones start killing it not only in practice, but when given minutes in games, as McHale has shown, he will play who he thinks will produce the most on the court, and most importantly, of course, who gives the team the best chance to win. If that turns out to be Jones, that's who McHale will put out there. Not right away. Patterson will be given a real shot at the starting gig. I don't expect that Jones ends up starting this season, but with such a young team, the uncertainty is kinda fun. Adds spice to a season that might need all we can find.

Definitely Patterson. From what everyone's saying, he has stepped up the level of intensity to make up for last year. We need him to take that next step in his post-game. Asik will be the garbage man, but we need PDPatt to be our go-to man in the post. I hope he's been watching some Scola tape.

RIGHT NOW Patt will start, depending on how both play in actual games...if T Jones even shows equal amount of output as Patt the spot will be his because his ceiling is so high. Its basically a "one screw up and you are outta here" situation for Patt. I like both players but I do see Terrence Jones becoming an all-star at the Power Forward position once he adjust to the speed and strengths of the NBA game which wont take long. The position is his longterm.

I see Patterson getting the bulk of the minutes at PF, but I'm really hopeful that Motiejunas will emerge as our long-term answer at the position.

Why not start the only true center on the roster, Asik?
