This Royce White situation is finally making me understand why Morey drafted T.Jones

The Rockets drafted Terrence Jones at #18 because he was the best talent on their draft board at that spot. I'm fairly certain that the power forward spot was already covered with Patterson, Motiejunas and possibly even Morris or Parsons (in small ball lineups). No need to draft another PF for the sake of taking another PF.

No offense to Royce's agent, but he got played by a lot of teams. The Rockets weren't the only team that he named on that phone call that actually was interested in Royce.

Given that the Rockets were picking at both 16 and 18, and given further the Rockets' obsession with compiling intel, it stands to reason that the Mavs (or another team to which the Mavs could trade the 17th pick) were highly interested in Royce. Otherwise, the Rockets would have just taken Zeller or Jones or Player X at #16 and gambled that White would fall to them at #18.

If what Royce's agent was saying was even remotedly true, and only McHale was interested in Royce at all, there's no freaking way the Rockets don't either (1) "wait and see" if Royce is still there at #18 before taking him or (2) not select him at all.

Royce White's supremely high upside smacks of a Morey pick given the philosophy for this post-Yao, no-superstar-having franchise.

Morey always sounds so confident in his intel regarding the draft. He "knew" how important it would be to move up a couple of spots to get Lamb. I wonder how accurate that intel is sometimes.

On the topic, Jones was picked because he has upside. I don't think the Rockets pick players because they will fit a certain system or the other players on the roster. The roster is a work in progress.

LOLwut? Bus rides aren't exactly bad enough to label the draft a mistake. Its certainly a strike, but the fact is they drafted him for his potential, which has nothing to do with requesting bus rides because he's afraid of riding a plane. If White becomes Lebron 2.0 then I'm pretty sure it was the right pick bus rides and all.

I kind of figured Royce was our take a gamble pick. Lamb and Jones were the sure thing picks.

There is no such thing as sure thing picks...... unless that is the No 1 pick
Lamb has the best talent without much distraction.... maybe his take on D
TJones might be the hard working Odom I sure hope
