All B.S aside you're right. The Rockets along with the Houston Medical Center can profit from his struggle and also help break the stigma of mental illness. If he can get through this he can be an inspirational voice

I'm with you there. Les will personally set RW up with his own team of therapists and get this dude on the road to recovery.

Do you think he is right to negotiate with the organization by holding out?

Why did White carry a marketing power? Some haters already said Lin's 25 to 35 NBA games were unproven without thinking his Asian-American, Chinese, Harvard, three times D-Leaguer........background.

What did White carry a marketing power at this point? A LJ like future? Or his outspoken mental illness awareness poster boy?

    Care to share your reasoning?

He's not holding out as in Chris Johnson for more money, he's asking for help so he can get on the court and do his job. And I think they should give it to him or at least send Gerason Rosas to fly up and drive down with him. Make him feel like he's important and like he is being heard

I wonder if the RGV Vipers ever travel by air? I suspect they travel by bus most of the time, but I could be wrong about that.

He is under contract. He is an employee of the organization. He is getting paid. Personal/health problem aside, he should perform his responsibility to honor his contract if he can. And driving up to McAllen and attend the training camp is very doable. Stop making excuse for him. You are not his publicist. Or are you?

National outlets like ESPN, CBS Sports, Grantland.com have already done articles and a video with Royce White. How much coverage have Lamb, Motiejunas and Jones gotten?

If Royce White succeeds on court, there is all but guaranteed continuing coverage on how he deals with his mental illness, how he is an inspiration for others who have mental illness, etc. We are talking both sports and non-sports media. We are talking about the Rockets being praised as a model for helping an employee deal with mental illness. We are talking millions and millions of fans world wide with mental illness or have family with mental illness.

Hey. Good ones!!! He is/was a writer. He is a future pop/hip-pop song writer and singer . May be he can equip his bus with those fancy song producing stuffs and a quite corner room for his musing. May be he can put up a PSY's " Houston Style" pop hit to be a superstar on his way to the next game and start his US tour while being on Rockets bench/ D-League. Men. He is onto the big things. :p

Let's not make Royce out to be a saint just because he has anxiety disorder. He was arrested and pleaded guilty to stealing clothes at a mall, and for stealing laptops at University of Minnesota. The reason he ended up at Iowa State. He also knocked up a girl two years ago when he was 19. He could've negotiated these terms a long time ago instead of now during training camp or at least participate in training camp while the terms are being negotiated by his agent.

Wow. Don't even know what to say to this. You aren't Royce so you don't know what the full extent of the situation is, stop acting like you do.

I had no idea Royce White would generate so much dramatic controversy. But I guess I should have expected it.

I don't think he's trying to generate controversy, though I get your point. He's trying not to hide his illness or "toughing it out, but suffering in silence" - instead he's laying it out there in hopes of creating awareness and conversation by those who would rather shove it under the rug.

It takes more balls to expose your weaknesses to the world than to hide them, hoping no one will judge you based on those weaknesses. I applaud his willingness to engage people in thinking about uncomfortable topics, so that some education and understanding can be gained from it. Otherwise, so many negative, ignorant and prejudiced comments will end up shaping people's opinions.

I think comparing Royce White's mental disorder to Rose's ACL injury is as ignorant as it gets. Rose didn't know his entire life he was going to injure his ACL. White is more easy to compare to an athlete that is suffering from a disease such as Diabetes. People like this are successful because of perfect planning, well in advanced, which White has failed to demonstrate up to this point. Hopefully he gets it together.

If a team sent him to the d-league because of his condition rather than make reasonable accommodations then they could be sued. If they sent him to the d-league because of his performance which suffered because of his condition despite making reasonable accommodations then they should be safe.

He can't work it out in the D-League, he and Marcus Morris play the same position.
