once i started doing my budget on mint.com...i started saving a lot more. before i was charging crap on the card...then paying it off completely when i got the check. well the problem was, i wasn't saving much.
I need to listen to Dave Ramsey again, I am saving 500 a month right now, but I COULD be saving more if I just got my shopping under control There is always a reason why its ok to spend money, Im good at rationalizing it
I recommend this. I did this for a full year and ended up saving about one-third of my gross income that year.
you can save without being miserly. what's the point of having money if you can't enjoy it. i'm known by my friends and family as being cheap because i won't buy the latest tech upgrades or eat out at fancy restaurants. but i'll spend money on vacations or hobbies. save the rest for the future.
yea... my hobbies is shopping... especially for clothes and makeup... so that's not good advice for me
Including 401(k) and education savings funds for my kids, over 10%. Probably equates to about $400 - $500/month. In a savings account? Almost nothing.

Anywhere from $800-$1,200 a month plus 5% that goes into my retirement every paycheck. If I wasn't in a relationship, I could save a lot more. I make roughly $2,000 a month.
so be it. shop all you want as long as you're meeting your savings goals. i don't budget. i auto deduct a certain amount every month for retirement and a yearly vacation. everything else is "don't care where it goes" money.
Relationships man. Jesus those things are expensive and I don't even pay for anything or do anything extravagant anymore. Unless you live together relationships eat so much money. Ugh.
Varies from month to month but I average about $200 right now. Will go up drastically once I get student loans paid off, which I am shoveling about $500 a month toward right now. Also putting several hundred a month in a roth, so I guess you could say I'm "saving" between 500-1000.
