I'll admit that I'm not that into College Basketball, but I became interested in the Red Storm last year when one of my friends, D'Angelo Harrison, went there. He went to my high school and was considered one of the top prospects, I believe top 9 or 10 shooting guards in his class. What made Moe Harkless such a promising prospect over Harrison? I've seen a few games of theirs and it seems that Moe Harkless had better IQ than Harrison, but Harrison was the leading scorer on their team. Not saying that leading the team in scoring is all that matters, but Harrison was a terrific playmaker in the games I watched. Granted, he is a chucker (shooting an abysmal 37% on 13 shots) and shoots the ball way too much, but what made Harkless so highly regarded over him? From what I saw for those games, Harrison was an above average defender with decent playmaking skills. I've never really been a fan of college basketball, as player turnover occurs all the time and I don't feel the need to follow every single prospect. The only program I follow is UT basketball. I just don't see how freshman players who provide less than 40 games as a sample can be so highly regarded to become the next big thing.. As someone that has watched very little of Harrison's action, my guess would be this: He's got PG size but not PG skills. He can create for others occasionally, but he's not even a scoring PG, he's a two guard. Add in the shooting as you noted. It's not as bad as first blush, as he takes a lot of threes, and hitting 36% of those is fine, and he's a solid free throw shooter and gets to the line a lot. But he needs to be with his overall efficiency.
