I was thinking when kobe retires do you think people would still be lakers fans or do you think they would jump off the wagon?

They will still be a contender after they trade 40-year-old Ron Artest to a scrub team to get the next Kobe.

    KOF will jump off.

Lakers fans will stay with it.(Am I giving them too much credit? Ha). Lakers will reload with the likes of Dwight and Kevin Love and they'll have a new big four.

The Lakers are one of the easiest teams in the league to be a fan of. When they're good, they're a contending team. When they're bad, they still make the playoffs. They never are terrible and the league always cuts them breaks. There will still be plenty of Lakers fans.

Well seeing as Dwight will be the Lakers once Kobe is gone, yeah they will still have something to cheer for....and they will probably reload more talent with Kobe's 30mil a season off the books

Ya, they will just trade Kobe's corpse for LeBron James. If not, Mitch Kupchak and Jerry Buss will just release photos of David Stern wearing a yamakah oofing a Thai trannie from the back.

They will all jump ship and hop on the Clippers wagon. Mark it.

Soon as he does, Love will sign with the Lakers.

Then Westbrook will jump ship as well.

It just amazes me how lucky this franchise has become.

-Kareem gets traded to the Lakers.
    -Shaq signs with the Lakers.
    -Pau Gasol traded to Lakers.
    -Dwight Howard traded to Lakers.

Makes me wonder if this team would have been so lucky if they weren't in L.A. or in some big market city.

The Lakers have a knack for remaining relevant. I don't think that's going to change when Bryant rides off into the sunset, unless they have bad luck with Dwight's health. That could put them in a tailspin for a while.

Kareem requested to be traded to NY to play for the Knicks, too. And even though it hasn't worked out that well, didn't Carmelo and Stoudemire pair up their recently?

The Lakers will just add another star.

Free Agents want to play there, and it seems like half the league bends over backwards to accommodate the lakers.

Lakers have the worst fans in the nba, most of them simply root for the lakers because they win. If for some reason the Lakers suck for an extended period most of thier fans will bail, not wanting to be seen rooting for a bad team.

But they havent ever had an extended bad period

I expect LA will get one, but not both. (They won't have the money to offer Westbrook when he is a FA if they have Love @ normal max and Dwight @ ubermax.)

They'll win one more with their current crew, dismantle it when Kobe retires and be a middling to high playoff team, then trade for some nice young talent to compliment Dwight, then replace Dwight with a superstar when he gets old.

The Knicks have been extremely lucky in that everything they wanted to happen has happened. The problem is that they are just plain dumb. Within the last 3 years they gave a monster (uninsured) contract to a guy they knew had bad knees (Amare). Then they traded every single asset they had for a guy they could have just signed by waiting a few months (Melo). Then they are gifted with Lin and let him go for absolutely nothing.

Sometimes its NOT better to be lucky than smart.

The Knicks were also lucky that any player wanted to sign there after their past decade. If any team not based in Manhattan had that same horrible stretch, no major FA would sign with them. But of course, it's New York- so they convinced Amar'e to come.

No Amar'e, and I doubt Melo is so adamant about going there.

Lakers fans are Kobe fans and Kobe fans are Lakers fans...

I've yet to meet one Lakers fan that didn't like Kobe.

FYI the day Kobe retires will be a sad day in the NBA
