Does anybody not think humans are just an evolutionary step on the way to bionic life forms?

Sometime in the future, when it's time to abandon this planet, it won't be humans that are moving on.

i agree. it's not unreasonable to think that we are closer to humans who are more robotic-like than robots who are more human-like.

    . no

But, it depends on how "self loathing" humans become about themselves to go to that next step. It does seem an inevitablity.

THOUGH, I don't think an elephant has to evolve itself into a master cyborg elephant for its own continuance. I don't think dinosaurs needed to know how to protect its own fate. Though I guess there's just no other course of action for high cognitive self awareness than to just see how far it can go

So here's a question to ponder.

Say years down the road when tech is more and more advanced, one day one of your computers/smartphones/whatever "wakes up." Is that piece of tech still your property? Or, having woken up, would it be considered slavery to still use that tech as your property?

Isaac Asimov, godfather of the robot sub-genre of sci-fi, would insist that its unethical to own a sentient being, nuts & bolts or flesh & bones. i agree.
