UN Secretary General takes a dump on freedom speech

    It's a pretty stupid thing to say, IMO. Basically, he supports "freedom of expression" if you're using it to express something he already supports. In other words, he absolutely does not support that freedom.

    People need to know that even among liberal democratic countries, not all of them have the same rules on freedom of speech as does the US. Not all of them have constitutional guarantee of free speech protection over things like potentially seditious speech, hate speech or p*rn. For example, I believe that Nazi parties are banned in post WW2 West Germany. The right to be a Nazi/Neo-Nazi/Klansman, etc. would be covered under the US First Amendment rights.

    You can disagree with the SG, and certainly his view has no bearing on US domestic law. However, just know that this is not some sort of out of left field view and not some sort of slippery slope into censorship of all speech.
