Well I just wanted to say that Hakeem has been fun to watch over the years .This saddens me that he will be gone next season . I have been A Rocket Fan since 1993 , Always cheering for Olajuwon over Shaq , Ewing , and Mourning . Why am I a rocket fan? I never watched NBA until the 93-94 season , something about the Rockets was special though , they played with heart and soul . they poured evey last ounce of effort into winning a championship , and when Hakeem leaves he will be the last of the Championship years , the last Rocket to remind us why we are pround to be Rocket fans . Sure , we can sit here a drink our Pepsi (or beer) and make fun of junior members , but we are all Rocket fans here , and we must join together , whether we live in Australia , We know everything about salary caps , or we just like Steve Francis . While I agree to a certain extent, I am a Rocket fan for completely different reasons. Houston is my home town. I was born and raised here. Any sport that has a Houston team has been and always will be my team. I remember the old Rocket teams with Rudy, Calvin, and the great Moses Malone. They had heart and grit as well. Didn't even watch basketball til' back in 91 or 92 I think. It was Rockets against Cleveland. That was the first ever basketball game I ever saw. Then, I remember staying up real late at nights celebrating the Rockets first championship. I jumped so high, when I came down I bit my tongue. Then, on the 2nd championship, I injured myself. Ever since then, I've taken part in basketball events, school and/or community. ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!
why am i a rockets fan?? Cuttino Mobley is the only reason i could become a rockets fan. after being a knicks fan and having those damn rockets destroy my beloved Knicks only realistic chance at a championship i hated houston. but being a cat fan i started paying atention to everything Cat, but i eventually fell in love with the team. i always liked charles, but never thought i would enjoy the Rockets. infact i loved watching them as underdogs. a bunch of kids playing their hearts out. this team is exciting, and the fact that they can loose to the clippers, and bulls while winning against the lakers and blazers makes them fun. it will be great following them into winning seasons. the future is so bright. the reason i love the houston rockets is because they won me over one player at a time. yes i will miss drew, and pig. i love the rockets! *PEACE ------------------

I moved to Houston in 1975 when I was 5. When I first was getting in to sports during this time I remember seeing Earl, Moses and Ceasar Cedeno. I lived there for 6 years and I've always been a DIE-HARD Houston fan.I moved back to Miami, but I still loved and followed them all through it all. The heart aches: Phi-Slamma-Jamma vs NC State, That one hurt big time. Astros vs the Phils, Wow that was tough. The Rockets (twice) vs Celtics, It was expected. Oilers vs Bills!!!!!! also when they left!!!!!!! The Joy: Rockets VS Knicks That was the best ever. I almost cried,did I? anyway, the next year was just great also but nothing like the the Knicks. Finally I was able to call my friend in Houston to buy me 10 different championship shirts. Thank you Rockets! ------------------ the Heat suck!!
