not sure if this has been mentioned, but I had the chance to check out my boss's iPhone 5 yesterday, one of the things that stood out wasn't the phone itself, rather the packaging

the packaging box does not have smooth edges, it looks like cheap gift box made in China(yes, the irony)... this is something that Jobs would have never let through to production, the edges would have been fully covered

it's the little things, besides that, the phone itself looks fantastic

Well it was originally a question. If you have the S3 then I appreciate the input.

Posted this in the versus thread

My s3 gets hot. My s3 locks up. My s3 is too wide. My s3 has stupid touch buttons that i accidentally hit bc the phone is too big. My s3 has the worst interface for taking screen captures. My s3 has iffy battery life on full power mode. The low power mode really sucks. Why the **** are my text messages in the call log?! My s3 is plastic and feels cheap in my hand at times. WINAMP is supposed to be the best music player and it BLOWS

my iphone never had any of said issues. It just worked and looked good doing it. Going back to iphone

s3 - awesome screen. nice size. i have big hands so it's no big deal, feels good to me. completely modifiable. i can root/flash it and get the most out of it. a lot of good programs. the back cover is pretty flimsy so i have to be careful with it but the build quality overall is solid. not as many accessories as the iPhone but it is samsung's flagship and the s2 sold very well so I'm expecting accessory support that is acceptable though probably not on the level of the iPhone. with android, you'll get a lot of software support from the community itself, not really the company. no problems with software/hardware.

iphone 5 - very nice solid design. smaller so it fits well in your pocket. the s3 fits well since it's pretty thin too. looks/feels more premium. the iOS is solid but very little in customization unless you jailbreak it and even then it's a huge hassle. a lot of good programs/support. a lot of accessories since it's a gold mine for companies. it feels exactly like my old 4s. not much of an upgrade for me. no problems with software/hardware.

i would be happy with either phone since ill just adapt to whatever the pros/cons are of each phone. i just hate iTunes with a passion. i prefer the drag and drop of android + the google support (maps, ahem). i don't like all my purchases chained to iTunes.

Something is wrong with your s3.
BTW, winamp sucks. Poweramp is quite good, so is just good ol Google play music

You can get rid of part of the interface by installing a third party launcher like Nova Launcher.

IPhone works too though, you should be able to trade with someone

it's a nice phone. it's really fast. i can't tell you how much time i wasted waiting on my 3gs to do something (pos). But, now...don't really have to wait. it is almost too light in weight imo. easy to fumble around if not careful. i noticed it heats up and kind of burns your hand if you talk too long on it. it's telling me to get the hell off the phone i guess.

Can someone tell me some great iphone 5 apps? i downloaded some fighter jet game which is good based on a recommendation. but, what else is there that has been already tuned for the iphone 5 that i should check out? what's all the rage, man? doh!

i've pretty much owned every apple product ever made. back in the day i didn't have a choice as it supported photshop, quark, etc. it was the artists and musicians computer. now i guess they can all run any program but i am used to macs ans don't feel like switching. obviously integration between devices, while not very customizable, is seamless. synching data also. subjectively, because we all have different tastes, i think apple products are aesthetically superior in every way. when i get on a pc or an android phone, after getting past the ugly factor of the objects themselves, i see terrible graphic design and garish colors. i don't roll like that. now for the point i really wanted to make. I HATE iTunes! just get a premium MOG account and you'll be good to go.

Got to play with my neighbors Iphone 5 today. Lets play.

His 5 is small, and awkward looking. A stretched out 4s. Long and not proportionate. It has one moronic home button, and no dedicated back button, making navigation a moronic. I just want to go back to my previous work without either having to go home, or scroll through a million other apps at the bottom. Its tiny and hard to read text normally. I think my star tac had a bigger screen back in the early 90's. Naturally his battery died on me. I guess now that 5 finally has an LTE radio battery life might be a bit of a difference. Welcome to 2 years ago Apple. For god's sake put a dedicated back button on the damn thing.

Are you really limited to only using iTunes? What a convoluted mess it is. 5's shape is rectangular and brick like. Felt tiny in my hands. It reminded me of a woman's beautification compact. Winamp may blow but at least android has...oh I don't know 8 million other free music applications to choose from which are free that I can choose another one that fits MY desires. Where the F is YouTube and google maps? Skyview??? are we serious. Why on earth is there no NFC support yet? I got it, must be waiting for the "S" version. Really, an adaptor. You need an adaptor to use your 5 universally? A way to charge people more money is it? Kind of like apple TV. LOL. Here's a clue, build a micro USB port into the phone. Speaking of battery life. At least android users can replace a battery to something that more suits their needs...you know kind of like having an expandable SD option. Never the less back on the topic of battery life.

    LOL as for battery life.

The report claims to have tested the S3 against the iPhone 4S, the Sony Xperia S, HTC's One X and Sensation XL and a number of other phones.

It seems the S3 was able to make calls, on 3G networks, for more than 12 hours, while the One X (with a 1800mAh battery) lasted for a little over 10 hours. The Xperia S (1750mAh) and the iPhone 4S (1432mAh battery) lasted for less than ten hours each. The phones delivering the lowest talk time were the Sensation XL (1600mAh) and the Motorola Gleam (750mAh), which ran for about four and two hours respectively. The average talk time, across all tested handsets, was a little over five hours.

"The Galaxy S3 has topped several other battery benchmark tests, including one by CNET and another by Antutu. In the first test, the phone's charge dropped from 100 percent to 60 percent after three and a half hours of streaming HD videos over a Wi-Fi connection (screen at 50 percent brightness), while in the second the S3 outscored its predecessor, the S2, and other phones like HTC's Incredible S and the LG Optimus 2X.

One more battery test was conducted by Techradar and once again the Galaxy S3 turned out to be a winner. The battery test included the playing of 90 minutes of video at full brightness, with the Wi-Fi service on. The Galaxy S3 managed to retain 82 percent of its charge at the end of the test whereas the HTC One X was left with only 60 percent and the iPhone 4S with 74 percent. "

Being that you don't have have a 5, then by what standards are you claiming a weak battery?

Another long, unnecessary post from an extremely pretentious individual who cares far too much about other people's experiences, viewpoints, and preferences that obviously have nothing to do with him yet he feels the need to post a novel on why somebody who likes his iPhone is wrong....

We get it....you don't like Apple or the iPhone. There are many people who would agree with you. But there are also many who disagree with you. So don't just berate people who enjoy/prefer the iPhone and act as if they are wrong for having such an opinion.

Try deleting your e-mail accounts and then adding then add them back again. I tried this and it restored the batter life back to normal.

I think he was just satirizing the poster who either had a defective S3 or is an Android hater.

Still....why is this thread completely dedictated to people hating on Apple or Android? Why doesn't everybody just let people buy what they want to buy, like what they want to like, and just leave it at that. It's annoying after a while.

It's not. For the most part, people are just talking about the iPhone 5 and its features.

Of course, you're going to have people justifying this vs. that. There's nothing wrong with comparing two similar products. People should always make informed decisions before committing to expensive technology. However, they shouldn't do it insultingly, and that's when hating comes in.

Anyone have the 5 for Sprint?

Was wondering how (faster?) you like the LTE in Houston and where in houston you are? I hear mixed reviews but now that it's LTE is it better coverage?

Finally backed up my iPhone 4 and transferred it to my iPhone 5 last night. iCloud is pretty cool in terms of saving your contact info and stuff. I just wish it could store all types of files like Dropbox.

    - Yes Apple maps isn't as good as Google maps right now. I don't think Jobs would have let them release such a buggy high profile product if he were still around but I'm confident Apple will fix it and get it up to par.
    - LTE is FAAAAAAAST! This upgrade alone is worth it (coming from an iPhone 4).
    - My reception seems worse than my iPhone 4 for some reason. In my apartment I had 4 bars on my i Phone 4 but I only have 2-3 bars on my i Phone 5.
