The best BBQ (Indian/Pakistani) its pakistani restaurant but we have same food as indians. ITs called BUNDU KHAN. Savoy Restaurant is good too. and Sabri Nihari.
Never really liked London Sizzler. It isn't real Indian food to me anyway. The taste is different. Go to Himalaya in the same shopping center.
Himalaya is easily the best food and worst service one can experience. Tandoori Nites is definitely good. Not a fan of Sabri at all, I prefer Sheik Chili for my nihari. Bombay Sweets is a good veg option. By far two of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten are the highly acclaimed Kirans and Pondecherri. Could not pay me to eat at either one of those places again. Voss in Sugarland has great grilled Indian style seafood. Savoy has been solid for 20 years now. Bundu Khan is probably the best Indo/Pak bbq in Houston. Bismillah used to be my favorite, but it has really gone down hill.
My friend got me some birayani (sp?) from that place and it was spicy as heck. Not sure if all birayani is supposed to be like that.
Not Indian, nor do I have extensive expertise in Indian food, but out of the half dozen places I've tried, Bombay is my favorite. I actually just made some chicken tikka masala tonight with rice and naan. Pretty good, took a lot of time but worth it.
Best is Desi grill and more food truck off veterans memorial. Tandoori nite is the son's truck. Nothing else in Houston compares as far as north Indian food is concerned.
Actually Good Desi food is usually spicy. Biryani is better spicy. But Indian/Paki food is so unhealthy. My mom side of family cooks really good, people tell them to open up a restaurant. I'm blessed lol.
Shiva is a good place in Rice Village. They also serve King Fisher beer there. My Fiancee and I go there once or twice a month. I am not Indian but they have good food.
Totally off topic but I've always wanted to have sexual intercourse with an Indian woman. If anyone is interested in a wife swap please contact me through myspace.
shri balaji and bombay sweets are my go-to places. crave a dosa, shri balaji, crave dal/paneer/naan, bombay sweets.
Weird. I've never been to any of the places mentioned except for Shiva's and Bombay Brasserie. Y'all come to some kind of consensus before my next visit to Houston.
I don't have much experience with Indian food. I have only gone to Mogul on Bay Area Blvd. It's pretty good.
I disagree. Indian food has plenty of spices. I would prefer to not have a runny nose while I eat. Indo/Pak biryani originates from Hyderabad, India and is usually not spicy. Biryani is actually an Iraqi dish (Haleem is Irani). Lots of people moved from Iran and Iraq to Hyderabad after the 1500s. It's easily the best biryani but you won't find it in most restaurants. There is a place called Paradise at Harwin and Hillcroft that specializes in Hyderabadi biryani. Never had it but I'm sure it's good.
