Umm maybe bc Dimassi's is a buffet where quality is noticebaly worse. I would never go there.

These other restaurants are hardly expensive.

Dimassi is crap, and the fact that you keep going there because of groupons tells me you are just interested in the cheapest meal possible.

I've stopped by a place called Ekko's, granted it's in a gas station, but I thought it was good.

    Phoenicia

    close thread

Mezza has amazing chicken kabobs but are way overpriced.

Shawarma King is good as well but Phoenicia is outstanding

Not necessarily. I have tried other Mediterranean locations, and have yet to find a restaurant that has satisfying quality food which isn't overpriced. I'll be willing to dish out more cash if it's worthy. I'd like something a little fancier than a typical Gyros and Fries joint but not somewhere that's 20 dollars for a tiny plate of food.

    I have to give Fadi's a shot.

Nobody makes a better kebob than Darband on hilcroft. It is at the top or close to my very favorite thing to eat.

I try to hit up Cafe Lili on Saturday's for the Kibbeh Nayeh.

BTW, Niko Niko's will be opening a location somewhere around I-10 & Bunker Hill.

Yia Yia Mary's is very nice. Papas branded Mediterranean restaurant. Went there for a birthday dinner, nice but pricey!

Dimassis is an insult to food in general

My favorite by far is Kasra (Persian). Amazing food.

Don't think Cafe Pita counts as Mediterranean.

House of Kabob is up there.

Nikos and Ya Ya Marys are pretty good.

    Layal is below average.

    Marys is surprisingly good.

    Ranosh is really good.

    Chatters is pretty damn good.

Phoenicia is downtown is also good.

    Darband is always solid.

Alladin I feel is a bit overpriced for what it is.

I was at Yia Yia Mary's a couple weeks ago and I felt their gyro was bull**** compared to Niko Nikos.

    Baklava Cheesecake was delicious though.

Agreed. I wasn't expecting much since it was just another Pappas brand, but I actually really enjoyed the food.

I think NikoNikos is meh--their gyro meat is really plain to me.

Dimassi's is pretty gross. I'll go there from time to time hoping that the lack of cleanliness and/or freshness I experienced the previous time was just a fluke... but unfortunately it's a constant over there! Buffets *shudders*... I don't know how Indian restaurants do it.

Meat is not very good but everything else is fresh and excellent.
