Leasing out a house

    If you have a current homeowners policy or renters insurance, check and see first if you can extend liability from that policy over the rental property. Generally cheaper this route if your insurance company allows for it. Would also not do less than 500,000 if it were me.

    gotcha. i tried to call GEICO but they won't let me unless the rental insurance is with them which is increasing from 800 to 1900.

    i think since liability is not mandatory, i'll just wait until next year.
