http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/8386976/dwight-howard-los-angeles-lakers-never-wanted-anybody-hate-me Ironic how Dwight doesn't want to change anything about the way he handled this situation, "as everything happens the way it should it have happened" - lamest excuse and a creation by people who use God('s plan) as a cop out - but didn't want the lies to come out the way they did. Especially when only 10 seconds after that little sad story he lies about the whole opting in saga We're not falling for it Howard and what you did was worse than what Lebron did, it's not even close.
This guys is clueless about public relations. His agent, manager, whatever should fire themselves. The best way to repair your image is to shut up and win basketball games. Going and talking this nonsense with Bucher of all people is making matters worse. People are freaking stupid.... shut up and just play the game.
This. Lebron just did this and it paid off for him. Having Dwight with his ridiculous saga helped him too, Dwight's a lot worse than Lebron (and I HATED Lebron).
The thing is, if you're a douchebag athlete you have to embrace douhcebagdom. Like Dobro and you have been saying, winning and keeping your head down will shut most faireweather NBA fans, and certainly the media, up. Kobe did exactly that and he STILL acts like a douchebag in front of the media, but he's honest about it. Dwight says one thing and does the other, or does one thing and says the other, and it makes him look like an even BIGGER douchebag because it makes him look disconnected and clueless and out of touch.
Stupid or cunning. Suppose he keeps putting out statements like this in the media once every two weeks. People will get all riled up and blow up twitter and message boards disparaging him. He effectively stays in the limelight indefinitely. PR people have to know this (and are thus exploiting it). We're all led to believe he's this super clueless guy who needs validation from everyone. He's been in the league 7 years; I don't buy that. He's seen the Kobe and Lebron sagas. He's seen the consequences of bad PR moves. He knows at the end of the day, if (when) he wins a ring people exonerate him. Maybe he's just an attention w**** who doesn't really care what public thinks of him. As long as they're talking about him, he's important and will get commensurate marketing/branding deals.
