I dont know about you guys, but I think Yao has hit the so called rookie wall. I am not saying he is beginning to suck or anything but I think we need to give him a little vacation to prepare for a second half run at the playoffs. The guy has played in the international games and then he had to play in the Asian games before he came here and he has not had any real time to rest. Now I know that Ginobilli and some NBA hoopsters also played in the International games but they had time to rest after that before the season started whereas Ming had to get ready for the Asian Games. Basically what I am trying to say is that as I glance at this Board, I see that everyone is beginning to come down hard on Ming and he doesnt really deserve that. I just think that the Rox need to give him time to rest. Can you imagine what damage a rested and fresh Ming can do. I think I would like to see him sit out the All-Star game so he can get some rest.
Ming is tired, no question. I would also like to see him get some much needed time off, but don't hold your breath. Hopefully the big man can tought it out untill summer
Bah. He's missing easy shots. I think it's a slump more than anything else. He's been tired all year. And no matter how tired he is, that's no call for missing 5 foot hooks. Yao's a rhythm player who is currently very much out of synch right now. He'd have scored 20 against the Lakers had he merely hit the shots that even an average center would make. The footwork was still there...
5 foot hook shots he should be dunking...I'm not sure if you want to attribute that to his "nice" side, or a cultural difference..or fatigue...but whatever it is it needs to stop now because I believe its a detriment to the team. If he's tired I would like to see him rest. But missing 5 foot hook shots because you won't dunk the d*mn basketball is inexcusable. I'm high on Ming but someone really must drill home the fact that in the NBA big men do not miss easy baskets like that because EVERY point counts. So either its fatigue (which I really hope it is) or the man is waaay too passive inside. You either sit and rest him untill he is physically capable of being an impact player again or you must let him realize that he is 7'6 and in america and that nice little baby hook shot on a PUT BACK from 5 feet will earn you a nice seat on the bench. Don't take my word for it..look at his shooting %..he isn't finishing around the basket area...period...its not just his shot...he throwing up this junk instead of finishing strong...I think he exhausted...Rudy needs to give him some time to get his legs back.
what about the the new weight training regimen he's supposedly started? didn't someone on this bbs mention that he has already gained 10 pounds of muscle? that's gotta be affecting his touch. IMO, it has robbed him of his touch.
Moo moo I agree completely. As a matter of fact I think because this is the first real time he has worked on his upper body in his life it is definitely affecting his shot. I remember when I used to play every day, then I got into weight training and when I returned to the court my shot was horrible. I think the weights have a lot to do with it.
Don't be afraid to say Yao is beginning to sux. He is, as a matter of factly. Perhaps too tired, perhaps this mentality of "I'm happy just to be here", or whatever. Agreed with a lot of people in the game thread today. Yao needs to be a bench player again until he is ready to be a starter. Bashing welcomed.
