Hmm.. Bill Fitch? The same coach that arguably ruined Ralph Sampson's career? No thanks.

The Rockets are the second youngest team in the NBA... the fact that they are doing so well this season with such a young team just shows how talented they are.

Look at other teams which are nearly as talented as the Rockets: LA Clippers, Golden State, Memphis Grizzlies. All of them are very talented, but all of them have losing records.

Don't worry so much about our coaches this season; although Rudy T has made a lot of mistakes, the Rockets have made a lot of progress and they will wisen up as players after playing together long enough.

Rice is GOOD for team's caps. Please, someone HAS to get this.

Rice has the rest of this year, and next. Basically, a year and a half. We don't want Robinson, but I guarantee Atlanta would do it. Robinson makes boatloads of money for 3 or 4 more years. But he is selfish, talks too much, and his most prized asset (shooting) is fading quickly. It's like Steve Francis without the ability to penetrate.

As for Ratliff, it's trivial whether or not he's better than Cato. Cato is WAY better at rebounding, and is fully healthy. He is not as good a shotblocker, but above average. As for scoring, Ratliff doesn't do anything Cato doesn't do. Ratliff is unhealthy, and will always be, and HE admitted that. He said that he'll NEVER be 100%. It's showing too, look at his numbers.

I think a potentially great deal for Atlanta would be to offer Jason Terry, Glen Robinson and their pick in the coming draft for Jay Williams, Eddie Robinson and Marcus Fizer.

Bulls get a young player and a veteran back for 2 players who don't figure in their future and their prized #1 pick. But Robinson is an accomplished SF, and Terry is a young brilliant G, who would look great in a backcourt thaty features Jalen Rose, Jamal Crawford, and Trenton Hassell. All tall guards, and 2 of them are distributors.

    Chandler/Curry
    Marshall/Chandler/Baxter
    G Rob/Marshall/Hassell
    Rose/Terry/Hassell
    Terry/Crawford

    That's playoffs in the East.

    Ratliff/Mohammed
    Fizer/Mohammed/SAR
    SAR/Robinson
    Robinson/Glover
    Jay Williams/Wilks

I don't know if Chicago want to give up on Jay Williams yet, or if they want to take a chance on a supposed cancer, but the deal could potentially help both teams explode into the playoffs.

Mooch and Mo, maybe. Not Cato. Rox would be as unbalanced as before the KT deal. That's what makes JPo a 'steal' for Rox.

    A trade won't happen, but I'll play.

I'd say that SAR is the only player on that team we'd really want. But who would you give up? SAR's contract is up in 2004-05, one year after Rice's. (Of course, Atlanta could trade Rice next year for someone else who wants cap space, but still....)

Making salaries match, EG + Rice would net SAR, but the Hawks would say, "Yeah but, our boy's an All-Star."

Hmn. Well, that's right. So who to give up? "We'll give you T-Mo too."

"Why? We didn't want him when we drafted him for you. Why would we want him now?"

I would think Atlanta would want Cuttino in any deal, even if it yields Jason Terry.

Atlanta, more than anything, is looking for players with last-year contracts, not albatrosses like Cato's and Rice's.

I see that the Atlanta Hawks is already looking/planning ahead to May when they will start mailing out those refunds checks to the Hawks season tickets holders :D. Nothing like getting two refund checks in a 6 months span. I doubt if the Hawks will make future bets/assurances/promises like that again. :(

Fine. Taylor and Mobely for SAR. Whatever. The point is he's worth looking into. Dude can rebound, pass, shoot like an allstar. He's a legit 18/9 guy (not quite 20/10 ;)) that can be very effective at 3/4. I think his game complements Ming. Posey can play the 2 well, and adds size and defense to help Francis. SAR can play 3 or 4, depending on matchups. We have Griffin and Cato. TRock can play 3/4. We can acquire another 2 with MCE. I don't see how replacing Taylor with SAR is a bad thing, and I don't see how losing Mobely hurts us if we have an allstar pf/sf. I rather have SAR shooting better percentage shots than Mobely's suspect d, suspect ballhogging, and suspect shot selection re San Antonio game. SAR is a good player worth checking into.

Of course, I'd still prefer Lamar Odom, point-forward, feeding Steve and Yao.

Cato's contract is no longer an albatros. His $ owed is LESS than several 'please take our overpaid centers'.

NEXT year Rice becomes very valuable.

Now, MoT's contract? That is an albatros. Worthy of abattoir.

The Hawks really dont have anything the Rockets would need or could use. The frontcourt for the Rockets fits well together esp after the acquistion of Posey. Kelvin Cato provides the ideal backup to Yao Ming; a player that can be very effective in limited PT. Cato is grabbing 7 RPG in only 18 MPG which is amazing. Ratliff gets almost 30 MPG and averages about 1 more RPG than Cato. Yao eventually should average 35 MPG or so, thus a backup center that can be effective in limited PT is important.

As for the forwards, Rahim and Robinson... Both these guys play absolutely zero defense and simply dont make their teammates better on the offensive side of the ball. I wonder what the Hawks were thinking when they put three chuckers together in Terry, Robinson and Rahim; that is a bad chemistry match, three players that need the ball in their hands and dont make their teammates better.

If the Rockets do make any moves, it should only be for a steady veteran guard with high bball IQ that can help this team get organized. Jason Terry is not that.
