No, he's making a distinction between well-established facts and speculation. If you have some solid information then post it. Avoiding the issue with misdirection is rather lame.

    Cherry picking?

You mean I'm having a reaction to one situation, that is not only backed up by evidence, but factually completely and totally different both in scale, scope and nature (and most importantly, consequences), that is not shared with a second, dissimilar situation (for which there is no evidence).

That's not cherry picking, that's logical reasoning. The shift away from counter terrorism to mythical problems like IRaqi WMD's in the early months of the Bush administration has been well chronicled by its highest official in the area at the time and elsewhere documented in multiple books, articles etc. It was a deliberate priority shift that occurred over a lengthy period and went up to the very highest levels.

Unless you can allege that this Libyan embassy situation happened because of a simiilar paradigm shift, which you can't (at least in the temporal sense...), there's not really any comparison to be had at all.

The point is if it's later determine that the Libyan allegations are indeed warranted. You'd ignore it to suit your bias. That's ok. You can be one sided...or cherry pick. I'm just pointing it out while you ride your high horse on this.

We can can't on a the same thing from Basso.

So this is your preemptive condemnation of cherry picking. Got it.

    I
The point is that some day given a particular set of facts that is not analogous i may be able to make an argument that you are bias (sic).

Fantastic. Terrific. Have a piece of pound cake pal!

How does this excuse the documented negligence of the bush administration, which knowingly and deliberately downshifted the US' emphasis on terrorism in 2001 and purposefully disparaged the 9-11 warning signs? Id like you to document the relevance between your hypothetical coup and how I ended up grabbing a mask fron a city building on Gold Street 11 years back on a Tuesday AM which correlated with some folx thought Iraq and Russia were where the action was and all this Al Qaeda stuff was overblown.

I didn't follow the whole thread, so maybe this article has been posted (if not, I'm sure the point has been made by someone). I was reading the following New Yorker article by Gladwell about intelligence failures and I was reminded of this thread, so I thought I'd post it.

Short version: repeated warnings by the CIA about a possible attack being planned by Bin Laden wouldn't have been very useful if there was also a great deal of false intelligence mixed in and there were no specific details about when/where the attack would occur. The opening story about the Yom Kippur War was very interesting.

That's nice- maybe it wouldn't have made a difference. Too bad we didn't get a chance to find out, because Cheney Condi amateur hour meant that we didn't even try and those who did were actively disparaged.

    Sad.
