RedNation pg: Isiah Thomas sg: Joe Dumars sf: Rick Barry pf: Kevin Mchale C: Hakeem Olajuwon Bench: G:Tiny Archibald G: Dale Ellis F: Carmelo Anthony F:Chris Webber C: Otis Thorpe vs. Jamers PG - Jerry West SG - George Gervin SF - Larry Bird PF - Dirk Nowitzki C - Nate Thurmond Bench: PG - Kevin Johnson SG - Earl Monroe SF - Andre Iguodala PF - Willis Reed C - Robert Parish Extremely close matchup, but, I don't really like the way that Jamers has this unathletic slower type team. I don't like Dirk on McHale either. I would have to go with RedNation just because of his frontcourt dominance and how he put together the Pistons backcourt. This would be one extremely tough and strong team who IMO doesn't have many weaknesses with Isaiah playing the PnR with either Hakeem or McHale. RedNation in 7.
True you would still have good offense with Iggy, but he has beast defenders against your 1,2,4,5. Of course bench can play an imporant role in certain matchups, but when you have Bird in your team let's be realistic...he averaged 42mpg over his playoff career, I don't see Iggy gettin double digit minutes and puttin his stamp on the game. It's all good when you have a great bench, but the stars in playoffs will all average 40+ mpg.
But I disagree with having 0 bench. It helps to have replacements you can put in the starting lineup depending on matchups
It's still good to have a bench, to switch up the starting unit in given matchups(like I did with Jordan vs, Cooper, now Mullin vs. a weaker defender), so we should keep it. Just saying you should be realistic in how many playing time and what role the bench will play in a series.
FC: Rednation Tough until we see the Center matchup. Rick Barry<Larry Bird, McHale=Dirk (TOUGH TO JUDGE), but then Hakeem >>> Thurmond. BC: Jamers Not close. Jerry West and George Gervin are arguably top 5 players ever at their position. Bench: RedNation CLOSE CALL!! Very solid benches, not a lot of weaknesses here. I favor RedNation's bench Offense: Jamers another close one, I favor Larry Legend, Dirk, and Iceman scoring. Defense: RedNation really? Chemistry: RedaNation Bad Boys BC chemistry wins it here. Winner: RedNation
Frontcourt- Pretty much a wash and like someone else mentioned Dirk and Mchale would be better off on opposite teams since one team needs more inside scoring, the other needs more outside. Tie. Backcourt- I take West over Isiah and Ice man over Barry. Jamers. Bench- Backcourt of bench is pretty comparable and so is the frontcourt. I am honestly not sure if I know enough about some of the bench players to make a good conclusion. Undecided. Offense-Bird and Nowitzki by themselves can help a team become elite offensively. Bird with Nowitzki, Gervin, and Jerry West would be unstoppable offensively. Jamers. Defense- With one of the best defensive anchors of all time in Hakeem I say RedNation. Chemistry- RedNation only due to the Pistons chemistry. Overall- RedNation in 7. Jamers has an unstoppable offense but the defense of his team is vastly inferior to RedNation's defense. The gap between their offenses is not enough to make up for this problem.
