As the true Texan patriot you are, how do you feel about the fact that Castro's mother thinks the Texas revolutionaries were drunks and crooks?

 

Or it could mean he didn't get a serious challenger as he was an incumbent that wasn't screwing up. For example, Bill White got 91% and 87% during his 2nd and 3rd term, but he really wasn't running against anyone.

I don't how others feel, but Texas history is a total farce--the victors get to write the history books! Myself and many other educated friends (who grew up in TX and endured the painful year of TX history/fantasy in middle school) hold similar views as, ahem, Mother Castro.

 

Isn't it possible to be a proud Texan but also know the true history of our state and how we "took" the land from Mexico? What next....Columbus was kind to the natives?

I care far less about that than Castro's ideas for how to get San Antonio, Texas, and the United States back on track. You know, policy over puffery. I know that concept is foreign to you, but that is your choice, not mine.

Seriously, whatever you think of his speech, he hasn't done squat for San Antonio. Rape, aggravated assault, unsolved murders are all on the rise and the education system continues to be one of the worst in the state--three years after he campaigned on crime and education. In an era of empty chairs. . . .

 

They were all of those things and worse; Santa Anna was just a war criminal and a crappy President, and proved that more against his own people down the road.

Other than Houston, Burnet and Austin I'd put Sul Ross, Captain King and Ross Sterling on more of a pedestal than some of those guys.
