Wait until the end of the season, NBA.com store usually cut the prices by half. That's the best time to buy.

There is a new store which just opened in Elizabeth St, Melbourne. I think it is called 'Basketball Science', or something like that. It has all NBA gear; shoes, singlets, socks, everything. It's expensive though.

I did a search on Yellowpages.com.au, and found a place called Kicks 101. The address is 63 Elizabeth St Melbourne.
    Ph:(03) 9620 1101
They don't have a website, however. This might be the place I'm thinking of.

However, if you aren't in Melbourne. Search yellowpages.com.au, under the heading 'Basketball Equipment, Coaching, and Venues'.

    Hope this helps somewhat.

The NBA has completely died here as a followed sport. I say this as someone who has followed it for years hard core.

About 10 years ago, it had a wave of popularity. Mainly through Jordan.

Now, nothing on free to air tv and nothing in most major sports stores. Yes, one or two shops have the apparel sign. Go in though and they have a T-Mac + MJ jersey and that's about it.

In contrast, the EPL (English Premier League) soccer has gone through the roof. All the pubs have it, cable has it non stop, the gear is everywhere.

You have to worry about B-Ball down here actually. The Melbourne teams all have big financial problems, Perth downsized, Canberra are broke, Brisbane are half amateur...

Luckily my Kings are doing well. Me and my wife go the SEC often and it's a great night out. I know most other team supporters hate the Kings, but it would be nice if every other team had a stadium and set up like they do. It's world class.

Back to the topic now that I have had my rant...:D...order it from NBA.COM

Yeah, I remember when they used to have the NBA Game of the Week on Free to air. Midday on Saturday it was on. Then they moved it to Midnight Thursday. Then they didn't show it any more. :(

But I've noticed something very weird....there have been 3 Rockets games televised in Australia this year (on ESPN)- the San Antonio game, the T-Wolves game, and the Lakers game. All wins. How weird is that??

Authentic: The one the players actually wear on the court. Depending on if it's jersies or socks or practice tees, whatever says "authentic" is the same that is used by players. The materials are different and the fact that it's the same the players use makes it so expensive.

Replica: The knock-off version of the real thing. In NBA apparel, about the only realy things that are replicas are shorts and jersies. Rockets replica jersies, for instance, are made of a different material than the real, authentic ones. They are made of something like nylon, whereas the authentic is cotton or something less plastic-like. Also, replica Rockets jersies have no pinstripes, which aren't too stylish anyway. The other main difference is that authentic jersies have the logo, number, and name sewn on, whereas the replica has all 3 painted on.

The shorts are also slightly different colored than the real ones, and also made of different materials. Replicas are far less expensive because it's not the actual thing the players wear.

    Hi Smeggy

I know your an Adelaide man and I know how much you guys hate the Kings:D

Seriously though, the game here absolutely needs the Kings + Adelaide, Perth and at least one Vitorian team doing well.

Six months ago, the Kings were (literally) gone. If the NBL had of lost a major team in the biggest city, it would have been like the NBA losing the Lakers. I hate LA, but the game needs them.

It's a big concern just how poorly the NBL is going.

On a side note, Stephen Jackson (now with San Antonio) is the only King to have made it to the NBA (not counting 10 day gigs etc...I mean make it / starter) and Chris Williams has got to be much, much better than Jackson IMO. Have you seen him? If he had a three point shot, he'd be an NBA starter IMO.

Kicks101 is an absolutely awesome shop. they get in all kinds of "limited edition" stuff & imports that "mainstream" shops wont even see in a brouchure! :)

the website is www.kickz.com.au then name has a 's' in it, but the website has a 'z'.

unfortunetly they haven't got any rockets stuff. i went in there just before xmas and they had nothing. they were hoping to get some stuff in "the next shipment", but i've been struggling for years to get stuff. the merchandise i do have i've got from the states (my fav items are my championship t-shirts - one from each title - and my western conf champions from the year Hakeem schooled robinson)

    LOL

Jackson - and the Kings cut him and now he is an NBA starter, the dude has some offensive ability and is slowly learning to play defense

Williams - is a tweener, stuck between small 4 and slow 3, works in the NBL but i doubt close in the NBA

Jackson was 19, straight out of high school and broke his foot three games into the season. He was going to miss the next four months. As an import, as you'd know, that meant he had to be cut. He wasn't cut for talent.

You may be right about Williams...which would be good for the Kings as this guy is a league above everyone else in the NBL. He can get a tripple double any night he wants.

Looking forward to beating ugly Phil's boys come play off time mate :D
