As far as I'm concerned, all the teams in the eastern conference might as well just be in one huge division.
This is more common than you think. At least the part about not knowing the divisions, maybe not the part about not understanding how the Dolphins could be in the AFC East. LOL A lot of athletes just don't watch religiously and play fantasy football like most of us. They may watch the highlights on sportscenter and know who the name players are and the trending teams, but some don't even do that. Plenty of my own friends don't really follow that closely. They are big college football fans but the NFL, not so much.
I don't see what the big deal is. I've never been good at being able to remember who is in what conference/division for football.
This is similar to how everybody thought Jeremy Lamb was stupid because he didn't know the star players on certain NBA teams. Now, nobody cares because Lamb did his talking on the court. Who cares if Tannehill doesn't know the structure of the league? He just needs to do what his coaches tell him to and play football. He'll figure out the rest in time.
Who cares. I have to look up what conference the Texans are in from time to time. Then again I really don't care. I can spout off college football conferences, nba divisions, NL/AL teams, even NHL, but for some reason I can never remember NFL conferences/divisions. I probably attribute that to the Oilers leaving Houston during my formative years and when the Texans were created I was already in college engulfed in UT football. I do know all current former UT football players in the NFL though.
