Very nice. Pearce was about as expendable as they come and only taking up a spot that Paredes deserved.

Scott Moore is pretty bad but he isn't worse than Brian Bogusevic.

Though I do not mind that Pearce is not longer with the team, I do not understand why the Astros went through the exercise to claim him on waivers less than a month ago. If they had even received a lesser 'prospect' in return it would have made a bit of sense..but as it is, cash out a month ago, cash in today.

The cynic in me believes the true reason for the move was not in order to call up Paredes, but to create a spot on the 40 man for a local SP who has shown he can top out at 88 mph and, maybe, work through three innings (see also, 'the circus is coming to town').

    Scott Moore's WAR = -0.9
    Bogey's WAR = 0.4

They both suck balls offensively, but at least Bogey is solid defensively.

You mean Paredes? At least he isn't to blame. That is on the organization for waiting until a month ago to try and transition him to the OF.

And they are still waiting to teach him plate discipline.

was it cash out a month ago?

Are you sure we didn't claim him off waivers for free, and then only pay his prorated salary for a month? And then trade him for cash, which likely exceeds that prorated salary since it's such a small amount? (or at worst would be equal) which would mean net 0 or + for giving him a quick tryout..

I don't think you have to pay cash to claim a player off waivers. I could be wrong. He might be talking about the cash the Astros paid in the Tyler Greene trade.
