The media seems to desperately want Isaac to be Katrina; not even close. When Katrina was in the Gulf about this position it was a top of the line category 5 monster. The satellite images were scary awesome. Isaac doesn't even have a well defined eye. Katrina had a classic eye and was spinning like a top. I guess all this media exaggeration is political theater.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ike_12_sept_2008_1705Z.jpg i'm not so sure... ike was monster that really should have caused a change to the way they classify hurricanes.
it doesn't have to be a major hurricane to cause a lot of damage...see TS Allison. Looks like Issac will be a Cat 2 upon landfall in NOLA. Does anyone find it creepy that it will make the landfall on the 7th anniversary of Katrina?
Ugh, we're gonna get a huge push of dry air and HOT HOT HOT temps now all week with no rain. C'mon Cold front season! Sick to death of this damn Summer.
Oh, you were pranked! http://www.kirotv.com/weblogs/morga...012/aug/27/amazing-tropical-storm-photo-hoax/ Or I was, if you were just joking...
Last time one went just east of us (Nacogdoches) going up Louisiana, we had an influx of really cool winds, and temps
Yeah but Ike had an enormously large wind field, so it created a huge storm surge well before the storm even made landfall. Not to mention it was stronger than Isaac has ever been during its lifetime and had more time over warm waters. Ike was a unique storm. Isaac is too, but no where near the same reasons Ike was (strength wise). As long as Isaac spent stall over land like Allison did, then the damage won't be anywhere near as bad.
I go to Memorial Park 4 times a week. The heat and the mosquito's are as bad as I've ever seen (maybe not the heat, but sick of this humidity), plus a lack of rain again in July and most of August. I'm just in a Summer slump. Bored of it.
