And don't forget that a first team all-defensive player couldn't stop Franchise during the 4th quarter and in overtime. Both Francis and Marbury had career games, no doubt. But Stevie stole the spotlight because 1) he was on national TV! 2) he sent the game into overtime. Oh, and how many points did Laker point guards have compared to Maverick point guard?? Try 20 to 36 (rough estimate).

RocketFan85 is right...the guy played like Jordan last night. Way to go Stevie :)

Lets see, 44 points 11 assist against the 3-time defending world champions, or 41 points 11 assists against the team with the best record, but a soft defense, a soft frontline, and just got blown out by the real best team in the NBA right now the Sacramento Kings. Oh, and there was no media hype or pressure for the Suns game. Yeah Marbury SURE had the best night. It was so good the national media barely mentioned it.

    Lets see.

The Suns beat the Mavs, he played so well he didn't have to hit a 3 to send in to overtime.

He had ZERO turnovers which is a huge difference compared to Francis SEVEN.

When have the Lakers become a great defensive team?

Francis had the better game because he was double teamed or more? Of course the Mavs left Marbury open and dared him to take it to the hole...

Who cares if Francis did it on national TV? Last time i checked Marbury schooled Francis when the Suns-Rockets game was nationally televised.

Marbury had 41, 11, 4 a steal and a block in 4 through 4 quarters and his team beat the best team in the league. 30+ppg 8+apg 4rpg and better than 3:1 assist/turnover over the last 8 games.

    Francis had 44 , 11, 6 2 steals and 7 turnovers though 4 quarters and overtime.

PS: The Lakers allow 97ppg while the Mavs allow only 92ppg...

Rush and Fisher had 24 points combined. But doh wouldn't you say Kobe is running the show?

Anyway you think it is an accomplishment that the Lakers pointguards scored less points against the Rockets than Nash and Van Exel did against the Suns?

There might not be one single game when the Laker PGs had more points than the Mavericks

    I don't see the point...

7 turnovers makes a big difference... be it missed alleyoops or whatever, it is still a big difference. You can't just write them off like nothing.

Ever since they have been winning the last 3 championships?

How about refraining from making such statements so you dont lose credibility for the rest of your post?:p

I just wanted to say that Dallas is not the best team in the league, so stop hailing them as such.

    *cough*Kings*cough*

Records don't mean jack. Lakers included.

When Marbury abuses Kobe like Stevie did last night, then I'll give him his props. Until then, Stevie is the man.

    slinslin,

If I was Clutch, I would have banned your ass as soon as I found out that you are a Marbury lover.

Don't you have better things to do than to kiss the Alien's ass on a site where no one (except you) gives a damn about the fool??

Um, I didn't accumulate 56 posts there, you dork:), so you can't compare the two.

I had EVERY intention of making my stay there short as possible. I mean look at what user name I used in "Dick Bavetta".

Being a smart guy like yourself, that shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

LOL...I got banned in the Lakers' board even before my first post! I guess the dumb moderator didn't like my username... BooHoo! LOL :D

But I wanted to respond to the moderators dumb comments throughout the night. I guess he was waiting for the trolls' responses...LOL

BTW, the Mavs matador style of defense and open floor play allows opposing players to score if they can. Also, Lakers' opponents PPG is most likely higher when Shaq was out with his toe injury. I'd bet that it's been lower since, but I'm too lazy to verify. Since there are some Marbury nut-suckers here, why don't y'all check it out.

i am a rockets fan so i am partial to steve francis even though i acknowledge he has some major deficiencies, especially with turnovers. being a rockets fan however doesnt preclude me from being what a lot of rockets posters here fail to be: objective. marbury played just as well as steve last night if not better against a better team. dallas is a better team right now than the lakers, who have only beaten the dregs of the nba recently to pad their record.

steve has more maturity(by default since they are both lacking in that area) than stephon but i would give stephon the edge in athletic and basketball ability.

Last night, the Lakers were playing with a championship intensity and effort What do you think they would have done to Dallas if they played them last night? Not many teams could have beaten them last night, the way their role players where hitting shots. I credit Yao for defending shaq so well, and Yao's presence helped steve offensively. Shaq was hesitant to leave Yao for any reason. to call dallas a better team than than one we played last night would be ludicrous

On the Southern California FoxSports round up they said that they hadn't seen Shaq work that hard on defense all season. The Lakers wanted this one bad. And we still beat em. :D

    Oh, and ban slinslin.
