Just joking... What about Gout? This is something I get occasionally and it generally comes on in the middle of the night (there is a reason behind that but I forget what it is. My gout is usually a little red and is generally on the outside part of my foot but I am sure it could manifest in the area you are talking about.

Gout sucks.

 

Are you taking any medications? Any heart problems within the family history?

 

Some type of edema? Sleep with your feet up

is it actually really swollen? You may have gout if its localized.

Probably too early to go to the doctor, unless the pain causes a heavy limp or the swelling looks abnormal. You dont remember twisting it or hitting it against something?

I'd wait it out 2-3 days and see how it progresses. Compression and movement may help move lymph along

Elevate it at night. Take ibuprofin to reduce inflammation.

 

yeah I agree that it could be Gout, go to see a doctor.

 

dude, can you walk on that foot? or do you have to hop? if you're hopping, then it's likely gout

 

It could also be diabetes, if I understand my co-worker.
