Would the reaction be different if it was his son? It's weird, but I get the impression that child abuse (not molestation, mind you) is much more accepted for boys than girls. When young boys get their asses beat it was called discipline or tough love, but with girls it's much more scandalous. There's a certain amount of stupid pride too that goes with it, like when guys casually say "Ya bro, my dad kicked the **** outta me when I was a kid". You'd never hear women say that. Anyway....weird
