I agree, Westbrook and Perkins for Bargnani, Lowry, and two first round picks is a terrible deal. Lowry and Bargnani alone are not worth Westbrook. You could add in Valanciunas and Ross (or Derozan). It probably works little bit more.
Was Scola overpaid? AB has more range and is a better ft shooter. Scola was a liability on D as well. Excluding lux tax effects, the trade would save okc 10+ for the next 2 years. As far as the picks, they dont have to be used by okc. They can be included in a future trade or can be sold for further savings - though I wouldn't sell them. As far as the pick, okc drafts at 25-30. Given their GMs skill, getting tO pick in the middle of draft would net them a solid Player. For GMs, If they can contend now and kick the tax further down the road, they do it. Do you think okc would not be a contender If they did that trade? Works On espn trade machine
Pretty sure they're going to keep Harden now as long as they keep winning. I wouldn't personally want the Rockets to over pay for Ibaka as great as he is defensively. He's definitely improving offensively too but I just don't see it making any sense if we have Asik as well. We don't have great offensive options at this point anyways. Glad it worked out for both sides, the Thunder are my second favorite team after the Rockets.
Wow. That's an extremely shallow comparison. Scola is a FAR better post player than Bargs ever was, despite being smaller. I'm not even a Scola or Houston fan, but come on, that's just insulting to Scola. If Bargnani had the same post skillset and toughness as Scola, he'd be a superstar. btw, next season isn't a consideration. they don't need to cut salaries in 12-13 since they aren't over tax yet. sure. like Miami would still contend if they replaced Wade with Kevin Martin. Do you think that's a valid argument for your trade? they would be worse short term and long term. and long term, they'd be worse financially too, because Lowry would have to be resigned at bigger salary, and there would be more draftees to be paid. your trade basically improves their financial situation for 13-14 season, costs them a superstar and hurts them financially long term. it just doesn't make sense all around.
I think its about right. He's a healthier Theo Ratliff until he proves otherwise. Its players like Mutombo and Ben Wallace who deserve max, players who add elite rebounding along with the blocks. Or even Josh Smith who adds a touch more than just blocks.
Damn, Ibaka was top of my list for rockets' free agent targets. Smart move by OKC; Ibaka is definitely worth $12 mil per. With Bynum and Dwight likely to resign with their teams, Al Jeff moves up the target list. I don't think we break the bank for Harden if it becomes clear that Lamb is special.
This! +1 Those of you who think Harden is better than Westbrook, obviously didn't watch the Finals. Westbrook is an all star and all NBAer.
Westbrick isn't quite a top 10 player, more in the 11-20 range. But he is better than Harden... for now. I do think Harden will eventually be the better player, sometime in the next 5 years. In any case, if OKC decides to trade either one of them, Morey should be in on that action yesterday.
Hmm, did we not see the monster game Serge had in the playoffs against the Spurs? Believe it or not (or pretend it was a fluke), but he did post these numbers: http://www.nba.com/games/20120602/SASOKC/gameinfo.html#nbaGIboxscore 11-11 (fgm-a), 4-4 (ftm-a), 3 (bs), 26 (pts)
If Perkins gets to Houston, is he a leader who plays whatever role the coach asks him to and brings winning culture that helps develop the young guys... or is he the whiny, delusional player he's been in OKC at times? If it's the former, i like the idea. It limits the options next year somewhat, but it's a solid decision if Morey doesn't like any of the realistic free agents in 2013. But if he pouts and questions the coach in media like he did in OKC.... that's a horrible example for the youngsters.
Does Perkins bring ANYTHING but defense at this point in his career? Seriously... anything at all? Per 36 minutes he averaged 6.8 points, 8.8 rebounds on 49% shooting. His PER was 8.7. Eight point SEVEN for Christ's sake. I certainly hope we can get more from Martin than Perkins' bad contract (yes, I said it, it's a bad contract).
it was a fluke, indeed. on the upside, he shoots free throws ~.700, so you can expect him to become a more consistent jump shooter some day. i think you guys should meet somewhere in the middle. He does have amazing physical tools. He has solid defense (but FAR from great defense; still very flawed in many defensive areas, like post up plays vs. stronger guys). He does have some offense and is likely to improve. BUT that deal is in large part about his upside rather than his present game.
No & no. All Perkins does for them is defend low-post centers. Any other time he is a liability on the floor.
Ibaka at 10 mil/year is >>>>>>>>> than Asik at 8mil/year Just saying for all those thst say hes not worth that much
