Completely agree. Not only is he useless, but I honestly think it deters people from practicing good hygiene. When I go into bathrooms with an attendant, it makes me not want to wash my hands because I know I'm going to have to tip the guy and if I don't, he's going to get pissy with me.
Useless in terms of it serves no purpose... im glad walmart has decided to donate jobs to the retired people out there, but they serve no purpose... and to whoever said they deter people from walking out, i highly doubt it... if your a thief and gonna walk out with it an 80yo lady isnt scaring you....

Agreed after the seal breaks you might use the restroom 5+ times. I'm not tipping everytime I gotta pee..
About 20 years ago in Paris, I saw a government employee (in uniform) watering concrete. I'm serious. There were no plants or grass around and he was sytematically watering the sidewalk and curb on a hot day.

How old are you? You used to not be able to pump your own gas as recently as the mid 70s. Also, how pointless do you think this job is when it's raining, snowing, below freezing?

Man, I remember those selve-serve vs. full-serve pumps in Texas back in the 80's. I think pretty much the entire US was mostly full-service until the 70's. BTW, I think Oregon or Washington (can never remember which) also doesn't allow you to pump your own gas.
