    i wonder if royce can play center. he is a very poor man's hybrid of sir charles and magic. both those guys played center at times and royce certainly has the strength to battle down low. he also creates tremendous mismatch on the offensive end. he can drag the opposing center out from under the bucket making it easier for our guys to drive to the hoop. strong defense and being able to get to the basket are the most important things in the nba.

    If he gets/has a jumper, then yes. If he can't shoot, the opposing C will sag way off clogging the paint. Quickness advantage lost... except in transition.

    I really think one of either Terrence Jones or Royce White need's to get moved to SF. Preferably Royce.

    I think Royce is more effective when he's faced up at the wing spot, and is attacking the basket. Get him a jumper and he'll be a certified beast at getting to the free throw line.

    Also I wouldn't mind having Patterson as a back-up C, and just go with a fast lineup off the bench. He's going to be facing back-up's most of the time anyways, so he should be able to handle playing the back-up 5 position.

    After much thought , I went with PG as the team took a gamble on Lin playing a full season at the level he played a short stint last year and because of the depth or lack there-of behind him.

    SF was a close second because of the depth behind Parsons but the Delfino signing solves the question of backup minutes at the position that is , pending Delfino outplays Morris (thats not asking much).

    Center got consideration but with Asik , Patterson , Smith and Motejunas all able to eat up minutes at the position its not as weak depth wise as SF or PG.

    i assume we plan on running, A LOT. young legs- we should run every single chance we get. if they sag off royce, he'll have EZ jumpers, and besides, he'll have a running start at enemy C if he wants to drive to the hole himself. at that point he can go strong or dish.

    Lin's short stint is much more experience than Asik's minutes.

    Did you actually see Patterson playing center????

    I voted pf. Royce is too short and the rest are skilled but weak as hell. Too much finess and not enough muscle. Weight room fellas, we don't have them.

    PF... need more of them!!

    No, but really, I think we have proven NBA starters (which does not mean stars or anything) in all positions except PF. Sure, we have some nice projects at PF, but I would say the biggest question mark is there.

    I think it can work, but if he can knock down those jumpers consistently he becomes very difficult to guard.

    * Proj. Starter :: Reserve :: Questionable to make active roster

    (1) Lin :: Douglas, Livingston :: Machado, Fortson

    (2) Martin :: Lamb, Delfino

    (3) Parsons :: R White, M Morris :: Forbes, Simpson
    Morris

    (4) Patterson :: Motiejunas, T Jones, J Johnson :: Aldemir, Brockman

    (5) Asik :: (Motiejunas, Patterson) :: Smith, Harrellson, Williams

    Staring it down, I think it's almost a certainty we'll see Motiejunas and Patterson slide to the 5 for stretches. It's beyond presumptuous to expect Asik to triple his minutes and thrive out of the box, ESPECIALLY given his offensive liabilities. I suspect he's going to be a 20-25 mpg guy this season.

    We only have proven starters at the 1, 2, and 3. The frontcourt is going to live and die by the development of the youngsters, Asik included.

    Overall, the team's success is going to hinge on a playmaker emerging that can constantly demand a double team to break down opposing defenses. Lin needs to get his mojo back, Motiejunas or Jones need to explode, or Martin needs to go bonkers earning his next contract.

    PF
    Patterson
    Motejunas
    Jones
    Aldemir
    Brockman
    Forbes
    Johnson
    White
    Simpson

    None of these guys have done much yet at NBA level.

    That's not to say they won't, but as it currently stands, PF would be our weakest position surely?

    Having said that, it's hardly the position I'm most worried about - I'm sure one of the unproven commodoties will pan out!

    Agree with everyone but Perkins. Perkins is a pile of turd. He really sucks. I have no clue why people think he is actually good.

    We have one legit NBA center and he averaged 15 minutes a game last season.

    One of the best low post defenders in the game. He was neutralized when other teams played small ball, but, look how he does against guys like Howard and Bynum.

    Point Guard, Lin and Douglas are good but not exactly the best at their positions in any way and Douglas may in fact really not be worth it.

    At least at Center, Asik has potential and we have players like Motiejunas and other Power Forwards that could potentially play minutes at the position and be productive.
