What bands, artists, or tours etc. would you like to have seen live (and when), but never got the chance to for whatever reason. I have some....I was either too young or not born for these. Bad Brains - 1982, during the time of the ROIR album. Must of been mind blowing. Big Boys - Austin, TX September 20, 1980. Would of loved to see them at Raul's in Austin with The Dicks for the recording of their renown live album. Can't say enough about the Big Boys. Sly Stone - 1971 during the time of "There's A Riot Goin' On", when things started getting wierd. Parliament - 03/18/79 at The Summit in Houston. Brides of Funkenstein Tour. Anyone here at that show? Oh well, at least I have got that one on dvd. Prince - 1982. The 1999 tour. Bob Marley and The Wailers - 1973. WIth Bunny and Peter. Plus early Sex Pistols, early Clash, early Dead Kennedys, early Ramones. early Funkadelic. The Doors, Jimi, James Brown, in their prime.
Jimi, Beatles, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor...
easy as pie...most of these were gone before I was old enough to go to concerts, or I wasn't a fan at that time.. LED ZEPPELIN!!!!.....the masters, by the time I could go to shows, Bonzo was dead...RIP John Bonham original lineup of Lynryd Skynrd Jimi Hendrix Bob Marley Janis Joplin Axe Amboy Dukes..... Montrose some of the best hardest rockin bands of all time..and most were gone before I could go see em...po little me..*sniff*
Too bad Search is disabled -- I posted a topic on this about a year ago, but I'm not sure what I put down then. My musical interests have expanded a bit, but I imagine it'd still be many of the same: 1. Jimi Hendrix Experience 2. Nirvana 3. Grateful Dead 4. Bob Marley and the Wailers 5. The Doors 6. Pink Floyd 7. The Beatles 8. Eagles 9. Elvis 10. Guns n' Roses (back when it really was GNR)
The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and George Harrison (solo) are the only ones I can think of. Everyone else I pretty much was able to see...rock and blues: Little Feat - 1979 (sat first row at the old Sam Houston Coliseum...Lowell George's last show in Texas before he died six months later) Grateful Dead - several times from mid-70s to early 80s Led Zeppelin - 1975?(I think that was the year)-Summit The Who - 1975 & 1980 Muddy Waters - 1978 John Lee Hooker - 1979 The Kinks - several times from 1977-1983 Bruce Springsteen - several times from 1978-1984 I guess I'm just a lucky (old) guy.
I'm only 21 so these are more new school compared to others. Prince - Sign O' The Times Tour 1987-1988 Run DMC/Beastie Boys/LL Cool J/Public Enemy - Def Jam tour circa 1986 The Prodigy - Any show from 1995-1999 The best concert I've seen was the Hard Knock Life Tour in 1999.
I was on the way out the door to see the 1984 Van Halen concert & my mom said"You're 11....sit your ass down!"
RocketMan Tex, sounds like we saw a lot of the same stuff. I wish I had all my ticket stubs. Did you see Springsteen play at Liberty Hall? The Kinks ALWAYS put on a long, kick-ass show. I saw Zep at the Music Hall. The Kinks played there. That was such a great place for a concert. But I'm off topic. I missed seeing The Beatles play as a group. That's my biggest regret.
The first lollapalooza tour with Janes Addiction and Body Count. I had tickets but my mom wouldn't let me travel 15 hours to Denver with a bunch of buddies. I don't know what her problem was. I was 13 and everything.
I had tickets to see Sublime in LA but I was sick so I slept instead. Leader singer died about a month or two later. Grrrr... I gotta hand it to my uncle, who took me to see The Police for their Synchronicity Tour when I was in 7th grade.
Nope, the first time I saw him was at the Summit in 1978 on the Darkness tour. I wish I would have gotten to see him at Liberty Hall. I know a few people who did, the lucky bums. I miss the Music Hall...it's the first place I saw the Kinks, on the Schoolboys in Disgrace tour.
