I know that these are sold already, but I'm curious at what these are exactly. Obviously some super rare signed books, but how limited? How much did you pay for them and why exactly did you purchase them if you never even read them. Were they an investment? They seem to have gone for a lot for
Something that only appears to be only about 4 years old

    Thanks

They're from a small publisher that does limited editon deluxe runs of books from mostly scifi and fantasy authors. Their books are very high quality and usually have comissioned art for the jackets and a few inside illustrations. They're signed and numbered and if you buy the first book in a series you have first dibs on that same number for the sequels. Needless to say, they're for huge fans and collectors.

I paid $275 for these two books originally. I was a huge fan of this guy but fell out of love with his writing recently. He's got a big following internationally. Anyway, I threw the $900 out there based on some research I did of prices over the past year. Within three hours it had about 40 views and seven watchers. I figured it was going to be a bidding war but was mildly surprised by the buy it now for the full price.

I contacted the buyer and he said that he had all sorts of alerts set up and that this was the first time that the first book, Gardens of the Moon, had come up in eighteen months. He said he missed it last time by procrastinating so he pulled the trigger on this one before it was gone. He already had the second book so it was just icing on the cake; he essentially bought the auction for a single book.

I'm pretty happy and shocked by it still but it spurred a conversation between my wife and me about selling books on the side on eBay. You could easily just bank the Subterranean Press books for a couple of years and they double in value.

Vey interesting. I like the numbers idea, so that you get the same number every time. Doing a little research, I saw George RR Martin was an author they published. It would have been awesome to get in on some song of ice and fire books, I bet the prices have skyrocketed on those.
