The hardest part for me to swallow is the length of time it will take for Orlando to realize those picks. 0 2013 picks. I guess they are banking those teams will suck in the future (assuming they aren't all lotto protected).

I disagree here. I think Artest is fine. You don't need any offense from him really with the rest of that line-up. So he gives you good defensive minutes and some toughness and he does his job. Their weakness is still the same, PG. Good point guards (and bad ones) have consistently killed the Lakers the last few years and this won't change with Nash there. Brooks killed the Lakers and any speedy point guard will do the same, say, Russel Westbrook.

Its not that bad. 3 protected first, versus 1 lottery pick and a top 20 protected pick. Who knows, maybe they can package those three for a lottery pick...

Seems more like they want to tank for stars in the draft and stay sh!tty for a few years, see OKC.

I'm happy we didn't get the muthafu**in prick a**hole Duwight. Rather go for Bynum and Harden in free agency...glad the bulls*** is over.

I understand some of you are very excited we didn't get Howard, but if you are still smiling after you realize he was sent to the Lakers, you should get the **** out of this forum.

If he can completely cover for Nash's defensive mistakes then Howard's a much better defender than I thought he was...and I already thought he was the best defensive player in the league.

On vacation so didn't hear about the trade until this morning. Absolutely floored the magic got so little.

Considering the surprisingly large, crappy contracts and the middling picks and "prospects" involved, the magic might have actually fared better by letting Dwight sit out the season on the roster. At least then they could have tanked to the utmost and guaranteed themselves a 1-5 range pick. Their post-trade roster is arguably good/bad enough to net them a 9-12 pick. I wonder whether one could trade the #10 plus ALL the draft picks in the Dwight trade for, say, the #3.

Now I don't think the magic could have actually kept dwight this season, but as a thought experiment, the scenario demonstrates how tremendously bad the trade is for the magic. I can think of literally ten variations of a two-team deal with the rockets that surpass the realized deal. Fegan must have scared us off.

Last night was one of the most depressing nights I've had as a NBA fan. Like I've mentioned, I was ok with the Rockets moving forward but why oh why did he end up in LA...this trade is mind-numbing.

Its simple Alex Kennedy - tank and rebuild the proper way. I wanted Howard, but now that is over, and I am looking forward to the young guns.

Or how hard is it to realize the answer?

Very relieved this crap is over. I hate that he's going to Lakers, but whatever. At least we don't have to sit through a year worrying if this malcontent is going to spread his cancer to this franchise while we mortgage our future.

Pau and Howard together, I certainly expect them to. Howard was the only good defensive player for the Magic, and they were solid on defense.
